Suddenly one morning, tyranny

Imagine waking up one morning prepared to do your daily Bible study and discovering that Exodus Chapter 20 had been completely erased. The Ten Commandments were missing. Of course, you would wonder what possibly could have happened.

You then become panicked as you quickly turn to the New Testament, only to discover that the Sermon on the Mount had vanished as well. The verse about loving one's enemy was gone. Even the Golden Rule had disappeared. Upon closer examination, you discover that every guideline concerning living a better way of life was gone

Non-believers suggest that humanity is on its own, and that's all right with them. They believe they are justified in finding their own way. They feel comfortable that a sense of "the collective good" (which keeps them from becoming destructive to one another) will prevail, without the need to rely on God.

It's undeniable that horrors and hurts have been inflicted upon the world in the name of religion, including Christianity. Some misguided men within the ministry have perceived their actions as God's will. In eras long past, persecution was wrongly justified. Innocent people were literally destroyed by those who didn't agree with them. These shameful acts will never be forgotten.

On the other side of the fence lies the question: What are the results when God's Word is totally rejected and the Almighty's laws are distorted or ignored? Do we fare any better?

When there is no moral authority

If you're not a religious person in any real sense, then you reject the authority of a loving God. If so, what stops you from acting in a manner that is morally wrong?

We live in a country where some of our politicians can be bought and paid for — those who possess little or no sense of moral obligation. There is a big problem when our nation's Treasury Secretary is a tax cheat.

Timothy Geithner is the Obama administration's embarrassment. The fact that Geithner is a law-breaker does not seem to bother those who voted for President Barack Hussein Obama. We've obviously become a nation of foolish people who no longer see right and wrong in clear, bold, and distinctive colors.

"Thou shalt not steal" is a commandment that is uniquely germane to the culture in Washington, D.C. Soon, those who earn $250,000 or more will be paying higher taxes. This president seems to believe it is noble to redistribute wealth — but Obama merely wants to rob from those who have and give to others in order to shore up his own political capital
The entitlement trap

Americans are generous people. In down times, our country has always made provision to lend a helping hand when our fellow citizens need lifting up. But social programs were intended, at best, to be a temporary fix, not a way of life.

Actually, it is cruel to facilitate this type of entitlement mentality. People who live on government programs lose their dignity. They fall prey to their own insecurities. Many of them never become successful achievers and accomplish the American dream. The Democrat Party can be blamed for this dilemma. They see people as nothing more than a voting bloc to be manipulated.

Caring conservatives are saddened when they see what is happening within the black community. Too many lives are broken. Too many live in the past, continually looking backward, instead of acknowledging America's noble achievements and their own God-given potential. Some are willing to blame all of their cultural problems on slavery.
Christians must focus on Obama's liberal social agenda. They need to continually point out to those living in the inner cities the dire effects that an ever-expanding welfare-nanny state will have on poor communities. Traditionalists and people of faith understand how religious beliefs encourage personal responsibility, as well as civic pride. If Europe, with its overwhelming welfare rolls, is a reliable indication, it just might be that Obama is willfully taking the United States down the path to hell.

Deceiving the undiscerning

It is obvious that Evangelical and Catholic Christians were purposely targeted during Obama's campaign. He went out of his way to attract churchgoing Americans. Obama spoke about his faith when he took part in Pastor Rick Warren's special forum held at the Saddleback Church. Obama managed to fool naive and trusting God-fearing voters. Obama lied about himself — while his campaign downplayed his outrageous radical social views. He continued lying by putting an emphasis on a contrived commitment to tolerance and civility toward those with whom he disagreed.

Let it be understood that it was Obama's purpose to exaggerate the ways in which his progressive policies and positions were consistent with biblical faith. Unfortunately, his beliefs are far from the gospel of Jesus Christ, and Him crucified. "You can identify them by their fruit, that is, by the way they act" (Matthew 7:16).

It is most unfortunate that Obama's efforts were successful. Inroads were made among traditional religious people with a "self-inflicted guilty conscience." If Christians would have heard God's still, small voice, they would not now be crying over their lack of better judgment.

Outright fraud

It's too bad that Pastor Rick Warren delivered his inaugural invocation and gave credence to a pandering fraud. Obama has suckered the faithful into believing that his administration is not an adversary of full-gospel, Bible-keeping Christians.

It is a shame that many in our country are not paying attention to the egregious effects of Obama's stimulus plan, which will encourage more people to depend on the government. People who support more social entitlement programs don't understand the consequences of Obama's overextending hand of socialism.

"We The People" are not interested in being led down the very same secular progressive path as the European countries. It is becoming clear that Obama's ambitions might finally bring Americans out in droves demanding to take their country back.

I have absolutely no intention of playing down my personal disdain for this usurper who sits in the White House. I do question the sincerity of Obama's religious experience. Black Liberation Theology espouses racism and is definitely Marxist. Obama is a devotee of this bigoted, quasi-religious system. Although he chose to walk away from Trinity United Church of Christ, I believe his heart remains with Revs. Otis Moss and Jeremiah Wright.

False hope

Our country was founded on Judeo-Christian beliefs. History records the hard reality of those nations that tried to separate God's rule from their laws and culture. They never lasted, disintegrating into tyranny and horrifying persecution. The drive-by media never tells the American public the truth, however. When the game of "class warfare" is played out, bad consequences ensue. What is happening to our country is not by happenstance.

The French philosopher Bernard-Henri Levi used to be a Marxist, but later in life found his Christian faith. One of his memorable quotes is very honest and telling: "Apply Marxism in any country you want, you will always find a Gulag in the end."

It is very strange that progressives say they have brought us hope and change. How can that be? America was founded on our Constitution. The primary danger associated with the rise of the nanny state is that when government assumes the moral responsibility for others, people are less likely to do so themselves.

In countries like Sweden and Denmark, the large increases in welfare spending over the last half century have ended up eroding the moral fiber of families, and have disrupted civic institutions within these societies. Sound familiar? People have become dependent on the big government Sugar Daddy to meet their basic needs.

The problem with welfare dependency is that when people take the welfare state for granted, they are less likely to attend to the emotional, social, and material needs of their family and friends as earlier generations did. As the resultant social pathology deepens, crime, drug addiction, and similar ills begin to stifle lives. With government taking on an ever-expanding role, and with an ever-increasing rise in tax rates to support this growth, taxpayers can easily lose their sense of altruism and feeling of moral unity toward others.

Socialism then becomes self-fulfilling — as it destroys society's voluntary support system and fills the void with a police state.

Do we want our government to penalize hard-working citizens because they are high earners? A good work ethic should be rewarded because earned wealth creates jobs and promotes healthy, productive capitalism. Why should legislators demand that anyone be forced to share their wealth?

Protecting Freedom for Health Care Providers

Religious institutions have long been an essential part of health care delivery in our nation. Long before government programs began monopolizing the health care industry, religious institutions were providing care to the poor and most vulnerable. Today, Catholic health care facilities alone make up a third of the nation’s hospitals. As the federal government has encroached further and further into health care decision making, religious freedom advocates have passed a number of laws designed to protect the consciences of health care providers. But these laws have rarely been enforced.

Seeking to better end discrimination against health care providers who object to participating in controversial medical procedures, the Bush Administration issued a regulation intended to increase awareness among health care professionals of their rights, finally assign proper enforcement responsibility within HHS, and bring needed clarity to laws that have essentially been gathering dust for decades.

Just five weeks into his presidency, the Obama Administration officially signaled their intention to rescind this regulation. An Obama HHS official explained to the Washington Post: “We’ve been concerned that the way the Bush rule is written, it could make it harder for women to get the care they need. It is worded so vaguely that some have argued it could limit family-planning counseling and even potentially blood transfusions and end-of-life care.” But as Heritage fellow Randy Pate argues the regulation clarified the law for the first time and assigned an enforcement home within HHS. Pate continues:

[T]he proposed rescission would do away with the progress that has been made and replace it with nothing. Because the conscience protection laws themselves aren’t going away, rescinding the regulation would result in real ambiguity and confusion. … Why rush to roll back conscience protections for health care professionals? If the Obama Administration is genuinely concerned about potential confusion here—rather than just pandering to the extreme pro-abortion lobby—the proper course is to let the regulations operate for a while and see what happens. Instead, the proposed rescission is an attempt to impose a “gag rule” that prevents meaningful enforcement of conscience laws and leaves health care professionals in the dark about their rights.

The head of the Christian Medical & Dental Associations David Stevens went even further, telling the Washington Post: “It is open season to again discriminate against health-care professionals. Our Founding Fathers, who bled and died to guarantee our religious freedom, are turning over in their graves.”

Federal law requires the Obama Administration to solicit comments from the American people and substantively respond to them before any regulation can attain the force of law. The Knock on the Door

A sitting President of the United States is "organizing a political organization loyal to him, bound by a pledge, outside the government and existing party apparatus. The historical precedents are ominous."

What is so ominous about an organization? Americans, Alexis de Tocqueville famously observed, "constantly form associations.... If it is proposed to inculcate some truth or to foster some feeling by the encouragement of a great example, they form a society."

Certainly, thousands of organizations seek to influence the political debate. There's Newt Gingrich's American Solutions or the left-wing People for the American Way, for instance. .

Political parties are another example of an association, of course. Before, during and after political campaigns, the Democrats and Republicans promote their agendas. As legal entities, they have their own constitutions, their rules of business, their chairmen and officers. They have to be accountable to both the government and their members.

But there is a new organization on the political scene -- "Organizing for America," announced by President Barack Obama in late January but officially unfurled last weekend.

Certainly, thousands of organizations seek to influence the political debate. There's Newt Gingrich's American Solutions or the left-wing People for the American Way, for instance.
Obama describes OFA as a "grass-roots movement" but OFA is a "project" of the Democratic Natrional Committee.

As Politico reported, OFA will take the 10 million person database built up by the Obama campaign "to mobilize support for the president's legislative agenda."

A visit to the OFA website reveals that supporters are not simply asked to sign up, they are asked to take a pledge. A pledge to support -- not the flag, not the constitution, not the country, not even the Democratic party, but Obama and his "bold plan." OFA does not use the Democratic Party logo but the "O"-shaped logo of the Obama campaign in which the red white and blue of the flag are abstracted to soft pastel colors.

(Celebrities like Ashton Kuchner and Demi Moore did not wait until the official launch to "pledge to be of service" to Barack Obama, of course.)

You will not find any mention of OFA`s governing structure, their budget, their bylaws, or their officers at the OFA website. Donations to the website go to the DNC, but OFA is managed out of the White House. If you click on the comments button, you are taken to a link to the White House email.

Those who take the pledge are asked to "talk with people about the President's plan" and to "ask them to sign their names to the pledge" in support of Obama's policies.

So we have a Movement -- this is their term, not mine -- organized by, and loyal to, a sitting President. Pledge canvassers, armed with your name, will ask you to pledge loyalty to the President too. A president whose term has already become a permanent campaign, is signing up ground forces in a mass organization pledged to personal loyalty to their Leader.

Does anyone know of any historical precedents for this in the United States?

Did Mitch Stewart, youthful director of OFA, who asks Obama's acolytes to organize "neighborhood by neighborhood" study anything at school about Mao's "Red Guards?

How about Fidel Castro's "widespread system of neighborhood informers"?

Or Hugo Chavez's use of "neighborhood committees"?

Did Stewart learn anything about democracy at all?

Do any of Obama's pledged servants understand why a sitting president has no business creating and deploying his own supporters to help organize their neighbors?

Keep in mind that these acolytes have renounced any thought of questioning the actual policies of the maximum leader. Whatever he says, they are for it. They have given their word.

And they are coming to have a talk with you.

As Thomas Lifson wrote, "This is not the way a democracy is supposed to operate."

9 Things the Media Messed Up About the Obama Stem Cell Story

The longer I live the less I’m surprised by poor journalism in major media outlets. However, I think the reports about President Obama's recent decision (3/9/09) to force taxpayers to pay for Human Embryonic Stem Cell Research (HESCR) takes the cake. After reviewing the articles and videos by major media sources, as well as the local media here in Fresno, I offer this analysis of what you likely either missed or were misinformed about if those were your only sources for information.

#1. Omitting the importance of iPS cells
This discovery is no small thing. In fact, the ability to reprogram cells like iPS cells was named the “biggest scientific breakthrough of 2008” by Science magazine.

#2. Omitting that the diseases everyone is talking about curing (diabetes, Parkinson's, paralysis) have already been treated with adult stem cells.
Naturally we want to see people afflicted with painful diseases treated or even cured, but IF these embryos are individual living human beings, as science says they are, THEN we should not kill them for their body parts. Of course, if it can be proven scientifically that these embryos are not human beings then I will promptly withdraw my objection and put my full support behind this research.

3. Perpetuating the myth that stem cell research will likely cure Alzheimer's disease
According to Wesley Smith, writing in The Weekly Standard,
"Researchers have apparently known for some time that embryonic stem cells will not be an effective treatment for Alzheimer's, because as two researchers told a Senate subcommittee in May, it is a 'whole brain disease,' rather than a cellular disorder (such as Parkinson's). This has generally been kept out of the news. But now, Washington Post correspondent Rick Weiss, has blown the lid off of the scam, reporting that while useful abstract information might be gleaned about Alzheimer's through embryonic stem cell research, 'stem cell experts confess . . . that of all the diseases that may be someday cured by embryonic stem cell treatments, Alzheimer's is among the least likely to benefit.'"

#4. Omitting the dangers of HESCR
Because we just might kill some adult human beings by starting human clinical trials prematurely. See, something interesting happens during about 50% of animal trials with embryonic stem cell research: the stem cells form tumors. (Just what America needs - more cancer.)

Embryonic stem cells have the potential to become anything, but scientists have not yet learned how to harness that power. In other words, although scientists can engineer some ESC's to become a particular cell type, and sometimes the stem cell obeys, and sometimes it doesn’t.

For example, a man in China had embryonic stem cells transplanted into his brain to cure Parkinson’s disease. While some of the stem cells became brain cells like they were supposed to, the others became hair and bone cells! The man died a painful death as bone tissue grew into his brain and killed him.

#5. Confusing or combining reproductive cloning with research cloning
There are two different types of cloning: reproductive cloning, and research cloning. The term "reproductive cloning" has been used to describe when a human clone is implanted and delivered as a full term pregnancy. "Research," "experimental" or "therapeutic cloning" have been the terms used for the other type of cloning. In this, a human embryo is cloned and experimented upon in his or her first few weeks of life and then killed.

#6. Creating a false choice that “leftover” embryos will either be used for research or be killed
Those are not the only choices. Human embryos that are no longer wanted by the family can also be placed for adoption. Organizations like Snowflakes have been helping couples through embryo adoption for years now. President Bush has even flown several of these families to the White House to stand behind him when talking about the issue, pointing to the babies, and remarking that “these boys and girls are not spare parts.”

#7. Dehumanizing human embryos
It’s much easier to pacify our feelings toward human destruction if the people in question are dehumanized. Who would care about a simple “ball of cells?” But embryologists know that there is so much more going on here than a simple clumps of cells.

"In the hours of conception every aspect of the genetic inheritance for a new individual will be determined once and for all: to be a boy or girl, with brown, or with blue eyes, fair or dark, tall or short; all the rich detail of physical attributes from head to toes... The new genetic program is achieved when the two parent pronuclei come to lie side by side within the egg for perhaps a day, as their contents combine in the ultimate biological union of male and female. In the instant when the union is consummated, the whole egg substance divides into two entirely new cells, identical to one another. These are the first two cells of the baby-to-be. So begins the first day of the first nine months of life."

#8. Responding to a Strawman argument that pro-lifers are concerned about embryos being misused in laboratories (other than killing them)
According to LogicalFallacies.info, "a straw man argument is one that misrepresents a position in order to make it appear weaker
than it actually is, refutes this misrepresentation of the position, and then concludes that the real position has been refuted. This, of course, is a fallacy, because the position that has been claimed to be refuted is different to that which has actually been refuted; the real target of the argument is untouched by it."

#9. Bush’s policy restricted tax dollars being used on “all” stem cell research
President Bush’s stem cell policy did not restrict tax dollars for stem cell research. It restricted tax dollars to be used to kill more human embryos. It allowed tax dollars to be spent on research using the embryonic stem cell lines that had already been created, as well as funding research with adult stem cells.

On the contrary, President Obama is the one restricting tax dollars for stem cell research. In fact the only type of stem cell research President Obama seems interested in funding is the very type that has consistently failed to produce any positive results.

Another common misnomer is that President Bush outlawed embryonic stem cell research. He didn’t. Scientists have always been able to conduct HESCR, even during every year of President Bush’s term in office; they just had to use private funding to do their research.

Conclusion
To be clear, I'm not offended that major media outlets aren't advocating the pro-life position. They shouldn't advocate for either side. However they should attempt to present the pertinent facts in any given story to help the public gain a well-rounded understanding of the issues at hand. This simply didn't happen in the Obama/stem cell story.

This is not a small news story, ladies and gentlemen. This isn’t like a news channel failing to report that a large freeway is shut down due to an accident, and a bunch of people are late for work. This is a major event with profound moral and societal implications. President Obama left the door open to allowing American scientists to grow human beings for their body parts. This is a major ethical issue, not a trivial question about whether you should go vegan or not, and the mass media decided that it wasn’t important.

We should be ever vigilant keeping our eyes and ears wide open when watching the news, looking out for any bias or obvious ommisions of facts. We can only do that if we are already informed about the issue. Don't depend on major media outlets to educate you. Look for the facts yourself.

Pomona College Lifts Ban on Pro-Life Students Who Taped Planned Parenthood

Pomona College banned two pro-life students from campus last week after they videotaped the question-and-answer session during a Planned Parenthood representative's talk and asked the representative tough questions about recent Planned Parenthood scandals.

Pomona rescinded its ban this week after facing strong opposition from students, faculty, and alumni. The pro-life students, David Daleiden, 20, and Kyle Kinneberg, 21, are members of the youth-led right-to-life advocacy group Live Action. Daleiden and Kinneberg both attend Claremont McKenna College, part of the Claremont College Consortium together with Pomona and three other undergraduate institutions.

A hand-delivered letter from Pomona's Dean of Women Marcelle Holmes notified the students of the ban, claiming their videotaping had been "against college policy." But Daleiden, President of Live Action's Claremont chapter and Director of Research for the national organization, said Pomona never produced the specific policy they said his group had violated, and that he and Kinneberg were denied their due process rights under the Claremont Colleges' Policy on Demonstrations. "When alumni found out about this Orwellian situation, they were outraged," explained Daleiden.

Two more Christians have died for their faith while imprisoned in Eritrea.

This month, two Christians died while being held in government-run prisons. Reports say one of the believers died as a result of ongoing physical torture and complications from an illness.

Jerry Dykstra with Open Doors USA says there are approximately 3,000 Christians being held in Eritrea simply because of their faith in Christ.

"It just seems unfathomable that this little country of about five million people located between Sudan and Ethiopia on the Red Sea, really targets Christians," he contends. "And they've been on our World Watch List with Open Doors, and they're also on the 'Countries of Particular Concern' list issued by the U.S. government."

In 2002, Eritrea's government began a systematic crackdown on Christian activities, churches, and ministries.

A $4 'weapon' suitable for warfare

An evangelist from Louisiana is trying to get Bibles to 17,000
U.S. troops who have recently been deployed to Afghanistan.

In July 2003, Tim Todd -- president of Revival Fires International -- was asked to help get Bibles to troops fighting in the war on terror. Since then, more than 120,000 Bibles have been sent to U.S. troops overseas through Todd's ministry.

Now the evangelist wants to get Bibles into the hands of all 17,000 troops who are being sent to Afghanistan.

"When they're on the front lines for our country, they experience things like loneliness, separation, and fear -- and especially on foreign soil," says Todd. "Against these kinds of foes, even the most high-tech weapons offer little protection. But the weapon of the Word of God leaves our soldiers fully armed."

Each Bible costs $4 -- a small price to pay, says the evangelist, to get the Word of the Lord into the hands of U.S. troops.

Now to whom could he possibly have been referring?

The Arab and Muslim world has no doubt, and is telling itself that Freeman was forced out by the World Jewish Conspiracy, a claim that is being echoed among the venomous WJC theorists of the west.Certainly, there is someone out there to nominate who is not caught up in a scandal, pays their taxes, and is not a Jew-hater.

On Wednesday, President Obama signed a law that bans federal funding of any research that leads to the destruction of human embryos just two days after lifting Bush-era restraints on it.

Obama may have abolished contentious Bush-era restraints on federal funding of stem cell research on Monday, but a legislative obstacle still remains for scientists seeking more money.

A spending bill that Obama signed on Wednesday explicitly bans federal funding of any "research in which a human embryo or embryos are destroyed, discarded, or knowingly subjected to risk of injury or death," language that pertains to creation of new stem cell lines.

This provision, known as the Dickey-Wicker amendment, was included in the 465-page omnibus spending bill that will fund government agencies through September. The amendment is a measure Congress has included in spending bills in every fiscal year since 1996.

Bush's executive policy additionally had limited researchers receiving federal aid to just 21 stem cell lines created before August 2001. Obama's reversal allows them to use hundreds of other stem cell lines already in existence.

But the Dickey-Wicker provision still prevents federally backed researches from creating their own stem cell lines, blocking their access to hundreds of new embryonic stem cell lines, usually from embryos left over from fertility treatments that would otherwise be discarded. Scientists tout such promising, long-term research in hopes of creating better treatments, possibly even cures, for conditions ranging from diabetes to paralysis.

Reps. Diana DeGette, D-Colo., and Mike Castle, R-Del., are seeking a quick vote on legislation to repeal the amendment, after failing twice in the past to overturn Bush's restrictions. Degette said she doesn't want stem cell research to become a "pingpong ball going back and forth between administrations."

A battle over the Dickey-Wicker provision erupted after Obama lifted the ban on federal funding for embryo-destroying stem cell research.

The New York Times called on Congress to repeal Dickey-Wicker in an editorial on Tuesday.

"Other important embryonic research is still being hobbled by the so-called Dickey-Wicker amendment," the newspaper wrote. "Congress should follow Mr. Obama's lead and lift this prohibition so such important work can benefit from an infusion of federal dollars."

Douglas Johnson, spokesman for the National Right to Life Committee, said in a press release Monday that Obama's reversal of the Bush policy "set the stage" for an effort to repeal Dickey-Wicker.

"This sets the stage for an attack on the Dickey-Wicker law," Johnson said. "Any member of Congress who votes for legislation to repeal this law is voting to allow federal funding of human embryo farms, created through the use of human cloning."

Obama said Monday the stem cell policy is designed so that it "never opens the door to the use of cloning for human reproduction." Such cloning, he said, "is dangerous, profoundly wrong, and has no place in our society or any society."

Now the ball is in Congress' court, where only lawmakers can overturn Dickey-Wicker, which will remain in effect at least until the end of the fiscal year on Sept. 30.

Embryonic Stem Cell Research - It IS about the politics - Science has had complete failure with Embryonic Stem Cell Research

What saddens me the most about the recent Executive order to lift the ban of federal funds on embryonic stem cell research is the lack of public information given to people.

"Embryonic stem cells have cured nothing as of yet as a matter of fact There have been a number of studies, including some from Steven Goldman's lab in Rochester, NY, showing that injecting embryonic stem cell transplants in rats for various neurological conditions such as Parkinson's disease can lead to undifferentiated growth, ie tumours."

It therefore came as no surprise to read in PLoS Medicine this morning that an Israeli group has reported a similar finding in a teenager who was treated for ataxia telangiectasia with somatic foetal cells injected in his brain and spinal cord.

The utter complete failure of embryonic stem cell research evidently is not enough in itself to disuade Obama from signing this ludicrist bill.

“Ten years of research with embryonic stem cells has produced nothing but failure after failure, while research with adult stem cells and reprogrammed cells is finding cures and clinical successes on a regular basis,” Ms. Atteberry continued.

Contrary to success with adult stem cells, extensive research with embryonic stem cells, in America and around the world, for over ten years has not produced one human cure. Development of tumors in test animals has negated any progress made in animal trials. (source)

The other thing that bothers me is the hypocrisy with the "embryonic stem cell research". The Pro-Choice advocates say that the embryo is not a living being its just a clump of useless cells, well if they are such "useless cells" than why do you need them for your research, its just pure blantant hypocrisy!!

Even the Vatican spoke out today;

On Monday the United States' Bishops' Conference described Obama's announcement as ''a sad victory of politics over science and ethics''.

''This action is morally wrong because it encourages the destruction of innocent human life, treating vulnerable human beings as mere products to be harvested,'' said Philadelphia Archbishop Cardinal Justin Rigali, who heads up the conference's pro-life activities committee. (source)

But pro-life groups say Obama's expected decision on Monday to fund embryonic stem cell research ignores science and they say it has yet to help patients.

As LifeNews.com reported, Obama is expected to sign an executive order on Monday that would overturn the limits President Bush put in place to prevent funding the science because it requires the destruction of human life.

Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council tells LifeNews.com the Obama decision ignores that science is moving away from embryonic stem cell research and towards alternatives that are both morally and ethically stronger.

"President Obama's policy change is especially troubling given the significant adult stem cell advances that are being used to treat patients now without harming or destroying human embryos," he said.

"Despite the significant advances using adult stem cells to treat patients, and new techniques to create stem cells from any patient, President Obama will choose to direct taxpayer's money to experiments that represent the poorest stem cell science," he added.

"We should be increasing funding for adult stem cell treatments, which have been used to treat patients for over 70 diseases and conditions, and we should fund the historic achievements in reprogramming ordinary skin cells into embryonic-like stem cells without compromising ethics by destroying life," Perkins continues.

Perkins called funding adult stem cells and cells made from direct reprogramming "not only to the best science, but also to the surest common ground."

House Republican Leader John Boehner also weighed in on the Obama decision to fund unproven embryonic stem cell research and agreed he is ignoring the science.

“Advancements in science and research have moved faster than the debates among politicians in Washington," he told LifeNews.com. "And breakthroughs announced in recent years confirm that the full potential of stem cell research can be realized without the destruction of living human embryos."

Boehner said Republicans and pro-life advocates have always supported stem cell research and noted the irony is that Obama's decision could move money away from the most promising variety. Read the rest here

We all remember the drubbing that conservatives took during the campaign when they openly worried, and even directly charged, that Barack Obama was a far left radical. Pointing to the racist Reverend Jeremiah Wright, the domestic terrorist William Ayers and wife, and several others of Obama’s close friends and associates conservatives sounded a clarion call to alert the country that we were about to get one of the most extremely leftist presidents ever.

Of course, the so-called rational and presumably non-partisan commentators that abound in the center left of the chattering classes scoffed at what they claimed to be the wild demagogues on the “extreme right” who then said Obama was a radical. They have for the last two years excoriated anyone that worries about how far to the left Obama is, saying that Obama is just an average Democrat that seeks to “bring us together.”

Oh, but were it true that Obama was a centrist at heart. Unfortunately, with each passing week it seems that Barack Obama is looking far more the radical that conservatives charged that he was during the campaign than he is the centrist hands-across-the-aisle sort that the Democrats claim he is. One need only look at many of his appointments to see just how radical Obama is aiming to turn the U.S. government for proof of this fact.

During the campaign and as he planned his transition, Obama repeatedly turned to people whose views were far to the left of the average American’s. For instance, during the campaign and for his transition team, Obama relied on Susan Power for foreign policy advice. Power has for many years advocated that the U.S. give billions to upgrade the armed forces of Hamas and other Palestinian agencies despite the fact that Hamas and the PA have never once renounced the goal of wiping Israel off the face of the Earth.

Similarly, in the field of foreign policy, Obama tapped the services of Robert Malley a man well-known for his close working ties to Hamas and a man that repeatedly met with the terrorist group’s leaders. Obama also hired a woman, Sonal Shah, thought connected to a radical Hindu nationalist group in India to advise him.

In the filed of labor, Obama has sought out as his new chief of labor, one Hilda Solis. Solis has been found to have violated ethics rules by lobbying for a union friendly labor bill while she was both a member of Congress AND a member of the very unions that would benefit from the legislation. For the head of the National Labor Relations Board, Obama has picked Wilma Liebman, a woman that has strongly advocated against the rights of individuals and for collective rights; essentially a communist and virulently unAmerican concept.

Recently Obama appointed Harvard’s Ashton Carter to become the Pentagon’s chief weapons buyer (the undersecretary for acquisition, technology and logistics). However, Carter has been an outspoken critic of weapons of all stripes for years with his chief experience being in eliminating weapons, not funding and creating them. He has been an opponent of the military industrial establishment, not an ally — nor even neutral on the matter. Industry experts are worried that his anti-weapons sentiment will make him an enemy to the very job he is supposed to be filling. In a day when we have to fear terrorism as well as one where new technologies and the advancement of weapons systems to keep up with enemies is vitally important, Obama has picked a nominee that is against everything we need to be exploring to keep this country safe. An anti-weapons advocate for our chief weapons buyer is an amazing contradiction… unless one means to eliminate our weapons systems, not to improve them, naturally.

Now comes word that the Obama administration is looking to elevate Charles Freeman to a role in America’s intelligence establishment. Freeman once helped radical Islamists from Saudi Arabia to peddle an anti-western/anti-Jewish “text book” to kids in this country. Freeman, president of the Middle East Policy Council, a Saudi-funded think tank, was involved in selling the “Arab World Studies Notebook,” a book that for one claimed that Jerusalem is unequivocally an Arab province. The book also claimed that the Koran “synthesizes and perfects earlier revelations.”

So for our intelligence establishment, Barack Obama wants to install a man that agrees with, is funded by, and works with the Islamofascist enemies of the west? A man whose sympathies are against us. A man that has already been intimately involved with pushing Islamist ideals. THIS man is to be in one of OUR top intelligence positions?

Then there is Obama’s pick as head of the Office of Legal Counsel in the Department of Justice, Dawn Johansen. Johansen, for her part, is well known as a feminist radical that has said in the past that she feels pregnancy equals slavery. Johansen was a top lawyer for the National Abortion Rights Action League, or NARAL, a radical abortion advocacy group when she made this crazy claim in a Supreme Court case she was a part of. In many writings and court cases Johansen has also made the case that all restrictions against abortion should be eliminated and government should be made to pay for abortion.

Johansen has also written against any form of the security measures against terrorists that have thus far been put into motion. She is one of those fabulists that imagines that all terrorists could safely be put into the normal U.S. court system to be tried for their actions and has stood against any efforts to preempt terrorist attacks.

She has also advocated that any past applicants to the DOJ that the Bush administration had discriminated against because of the applicant’s leftist views should now get special consideration for those same views. In other words, she is hypocritically against past discrimination based on leftist personal political views and now wants the solution to be to discriminate against those that hold right leaning political views.

These Obama picks, each and every one, are radical leftists. They hold views that few Americans hold. They are in no way centrists or moderates and are not representative of the largest number of Americans. And these are the sorts of people with which Barack Obama wants to fill key position in our government.

So, tell me again that Barack is not a radical leftist. No, the truth is, Barack Obama is a radical’s radical through and through.

The Obama Administration will announce next week that President Obama has decided to scrap regulations put in place by President Bush designed to protect health care workers from being forced to participate in abortions, sterilizations, and contraceptive procedures on moral grounds.The rules were intended as an enforcement mechanism.

They expanded on existing federal law protecting conscientious doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and other health care workers by requiring hospitals to certify that they comply with the law in order to continue to be eligible for federal funding.

In other words, the rules did nothing new, they simply ensured that the existing law was not ignored.There can be no doubt now that Barack Obama is the most radically pro-abortion president in history, except among the most brain-addled and delusional fever swamps of the left.

This move, together with Obama’s history and two other abortion related decisions in his young Administration proves it. I used the term “pro-abortion” in my story on the abortion rules at AOL’s Political Machine and drew the ire of one liberal commenter, who called it, “symantics gymnastics.”

But why? Liberals believe abortion is a good thing. If Obama is pro-abortion, that just means he is on their side.Furthermore, the left likes to have its positions characterized in a positive light and conservative ones cast negatively. Hence the labels “pro-choice” and “anti-choice.” Since we all know choice equals abortion – it’s the only choice the left supports – let’s have truth in labeling. President Obama is pro-abortion while his conservative opponents are anti-abortion. Works for me.

Palin offers support of Parental Notification Legislation

Juneau, AK (LifeNews.com) -- Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin joined members of the state legislature at a press conference Thursday to call for a bill to allow parents to be notified when their minor daughter is considering an abortion. Parental involvement bills have been approved before but struck down by the state Supreme Court.

Palin joined Representative John Coghill, Senator Donny Olson and other lawmakers to offer her support for new legislation.

"The most important thing at stake is the right of Alaska's children to receive the support and input of their parents as they face a life-changing decision," Governor Palin said.

"Certainly, if we are a society that mandates parental consent before our daughters get their ears pierced, or even take a Tylenol tablet at school, I would think that there would be support both for parents to have to give consent and be informed anyway before such an invasive procedure of an abortion would be performed on our underage daughters," Palin added.

The Alaska House last year approved a parental consent bill that would allow parents to intervene in their teenage daughter having an abortion.

The measure would have revised the parental consent bill the legislature approved in 1997 and that the Alaska Supreme Court eventually declared unconstitutional on a 3-2 vote but it failed in the Senate.

Palin and legislative supporters are optimistic new legislation could survive a legal challenge. That's in part because of a judicial appointment Palin made that could swing the court in favor of the pro-life proposal. She has another pick coming soon.

"Thankfully we know we can think optimistically about a court perhaps changing its mind, changing its opinion. Courts revisit their decisions all the time and if they did not, then we would still be in a society that allows segregated schools," said Palin.

Coghill, along with Sens. Fred Dyson and Gene Therriault introduced companion bills for parental involvement at the beginning of the legislative session.

Planned Parenthood representative Clover Simon told AP her group still opposes a bill to allow parents to know about whether their daughter will have a surgical abortion procedure.

Meanwhile, Sen. Charlie Huggins said pro-life advocates will try to get a parental involvement measure on the state ballot if the legislation fails to reach Palin's desk.

That may be needed because Senate President Gary Stevens has essentially said he doesn't want abortion bills to be considered this legislative session.

And Sen. Hollis French, an Anchorage Democrat, may not allow the bill to get a hearing in his Judiciary Committee. The bill died in his committee last year.

"Wherever you fall on the abortion issue, right or left, this legislation is about family, and it's about parents' rights and protecting our children, and it's supported by legislators on both sides of the aisle," Palin concluded.

According to state statistics, there were 1,759 abortions in Alaska in 2008 and 141 were done on teens under the age of 18. There is no indication of how many were done on 17 year-olds and younger teens.

Late Term Abortionist Tiller Will Stand Trial after Judge Denies Motion to Suppress Charges

WICHITA, KS, February 25, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) - District Court Judge Clark V. Owens released his decision this afternoon denying the motions filed by late-term abortionist George R. Tiller, which asked the judge to suppress evidence against him and dismiss the 19 pending criminal charges involving illegal late-term abortions.

The decision means that Tiller will stand trial to answer to the charges of performing late term abortions.

In his decision Judge Owens addressed all the concerns that Tiller's attorneys brought up over six days of testimony, especially those alleging outrageous governmental conduct involving former Attorney General Phill Kline.

Kline, who spearheaded not only the case against George Tiller, but another against Kansas Planned Parenthood, has been the subject of intense criticism on the part of both Tiller's and PP's defense teams. They have alleged improper conduct on Kline's part in an effort to recover potentially damning medical records that Kline obtained during his investigations.
However, hearings that have been held in regard to Kline's conduct have vindicated him and ensured that both of the cases moved forward.

Last month during a dramatic hearing that addressed Kline's conduct in pursuing the charges against Tiller, a former staffer with the Johnson County district attorney's office, who had been subpoenaed by Tiller's own defense as a key witness, instead testified against Tiller and in favor of Kline. In her testimony Linda Carter vehemently denied that Kline had pressured her to influence former Attorney General Paul Morrison (with whom Carter had been having an affair) to prosecute Tiller, as Tiller's attorney Dan Monnat had alleged.

Instead, Carter said she was certain Tiller had conspired with Planned Parenthood to break the law and circumvent Kansas' late-term abortion laws, and ought to be prosecuted.

"I saw the truth with my own two eyes," she testified. "I saw the records and made my own opinion."

In today's ruling Judge Owens responded to criticisms of Kline that emphasized his personal pro-life position, observing, "While Phill Kline testified that he would like for all abortions to be outlawed, his investigations made no attempts to prevent lawful abortions from being performed in the State of Kansas. His procedures have certainly been questioned by the Kansas Supreme Court, but his conduct in the investigation does not merit the sanction of the dismissal of the charges or suppression of evidence.

"The motion to dismiss or suppress is therefore denied."

"Once again, under microscopic examination to an unprecedented degree of scrutiny, a court has found no wrongdoing in the investigation by the former attorney general," said Caleb Stegall, a member of Kline's defense team, according to the Wichita Eagle.

"This decision brings us one step closer to justice," said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. "We continue to pray that true justice will be served on behalf of the innocent, viable babies wrongfully killed by Tiller."

Tiller is scheduled to go to trial on March 16.

For some thirty years Congress has built into bills a legislative device called a “pro-life rider.” These riders prevent public funding for abortion from being slipped into bills under the radar. These riders have wide bi-partisan support having resisted elimination since the 1970s.
But, now these riders are coming under threat by the new Obama administration and his pro-abortion Democratic Party cohorts. A bi-partisan group of House members, however, seek to quash the effort by Obama and his followers to reverse a thirty-year tradition, one that conforms to the majority opinion of the American electorate.

Heath Shuler (D-NC), Congressman Jim Jordan (R-OH) and nearly 100 of their fellow House members have signed a letter urging the House majority leaders to retain pro-life riders into the coming session and beyond. (see text of letter here, .pdf file format)

Jay Sekulow over at the American Center for Law and Justice posted an entry about this letter and reports that the ACLJ has taken an in-depth look at the 15 pro-life riders that were approved by Congress in 2008. (view their report here also in .pdf format)

Sekulow said:
Our position is very clear: With a pro-abortion Congress and White House in place, the conscience rights of the American taxpayer and the American health care professional are at stake. Pro-life riders that prohibit federal funds from being used for abortions and that provide conscience protections for health care personnel must be retained in upcoming appropriations legislation. Otherwise, the federal government runs the risk of forcing Americans to violate their consciences by making them pay for - or perform - abortions.

Exactly right.

There are two other organizations trying to do something about convincing Congress to retain the pro-life riders.

Report: Fetal stem cells trigger tumors in ill

A family desperate to save a child from a lethal brain disease sought highly experimental injections of fetal stem cells—injections that triggered tumors in the boy's brain and spinal cord, Israeli scientists reported Tuesday.

Scientists are furiously trying to harness different types of stem cells—the building blocks for other cells in the body—to regrow damaged tissues and thus treat devastating diseases. But for all the promise, researchers have long warned that they must learn to control newly injected stem cells so they don't grow where they shouldn't, and small studies in people are only just beginning.

Tuesday's report in the journal PLoS Medicine is the first documented case of a human brain tumor—albeit a benign, slow-growing one—after fetal stem cell therapy, and hammers home the need for careful research. The journal is published by the Public Library of Science.
"Patients, please beware," said Dr. John Gearhart, a stem cell scientist at the University of Pennsylvania who wasn't involved in the Israeli boy's care but who sees similarly desperate U.S. patients head abroad to clinics that offer unproven stem cell injections.

"Cells are not drugs. They can misbehave in so many different ways, it just is going to take a good deal of time" to prove how best to pursue the potential therapy, Gearhart said.

The unidentified Israeli boy has a rare, fatal genetic disease with a tongue-twisting name—ataxia telangiectasia, or A-T. Degeneration of a certain brain region gradually robs these children of movement. Plus, a faulty immune system leads to frequent infections and cancers. Most die in their teens or early 20s.

Israeli doctors pieced together the child's history: When he was 9, the family traveled to Russia, to a Moscow clinic that provided injections of neural stem cells from fetuses—immature cells destined to grow into a main type of brain cells. The cells were injected into his brain and spinal cord twice more, at ages 10 and 12.

Back home in Israel at age 13, the boy's A-T was severe enough to require that he use a wheelchair when he also began complaining of headaches. Tests at Sheba Medical Center in Tel Aviv uncovered a growth pushing on his brain stem and a second on his spinal cord. Surgeons removed the spinal cord mass when the boy was 14, in 2006 and they say his general condition has remained stable since then.

But was the boy prone to tumors anyway or were the fetal stem cells to blame? A Tel Aviv University team extensively tested the tumor tissue and concluded it was the fetal cells. Among other evidence, some of the cells were female and had two normal copies of the gene that causes A-T—although that boy's underlying poor immune function could have allowed the growths to take hold.

Using stem cells from multiple fetuses that also were mixed with growth-spurring compounds "may have created a high-risk situation where abnormal growth of more than one cell occurred," wrote lead researcher Dr. Ninette Amariglio of Sheba Medical. She urged better research to "maximize the potential benefits of regenerative medicine while minimizing the risks."

This brain disease wasn't conducive to stem cell therapy in the first place, said stem cell Specialist Dr. Marius Wernig of Stanford University, who said it's unclear exactly what was implanted.
"Stem cell transplantations have a humongous potential," Wernig said. But "if people rush out there without really knowing what they're doing ... that really backfires and can bring this whole field to a halt."

After reading this article, I had to google "hate bush bumper stickers", knowing full well the plethura of sites I would come up with but just for giggles and groans I had to do it. Here's

In the good old days of America, one could express dissent without fear of arrest. In the fascistic regime of George Bush, though, having a bumper sticker that expressed opposition meant getting pulled over by the police and having the Secret Service search your house for signs of “hate”. Thank goodness the Thought Police days are over!

What’s that? That didn’t happen during the Bush administration? Actually, it happened last week:

Chip Harrison said he was driving to work when a police car followed him for several miles and then signaled for him to pull over.
”I pulled over, knowing I hadn’t done anything wrong,” Harrison said in a recent phone interview.
When the officer asked Harrison if he knew why he had been pulled over, Harrison said he did not.
”They said, ‘It’s because of the sign in your window,’” Harrison said.
”It’s not meant to be a threat, it’s a statement about abortion,” Harrison said.

What did the sign say? “Abort Obama, not the unborn.” The police officer took that as a threat of assassination instead of its obvious meaning, which was opposition to abortion and to Obama’s support for it. The report filed by the police officer prompted their Internal Investigations group to apologize and offer to return the sign. They told Harrison that they informed the Secret Service that no threat was involved, but that didn’t cut much ice with the Treasury. They sent a pair of agents to ask for a voluntary search of the premises and an interview to make sure Harrison didn’t belong to any hate groups.

What’s next — a Fairness Doctrine for bumper stickers?

Captain Steve McCool of the Oklahoma City PD agrees now that the actions violated Harrison’s First Amendment right to free political speech, but that it was “made right” in the end by returning his sign. Unfortunately, that’s not so. The OCPD made it clear that expressions of dissent, even an obviously political one in which Harrison engaged, will be closely scrutinized to see that it passes muster with law enforcement.

For that matter, the Secret Service did the same by “requesting” that Harrison account for his thought processes for publishing his critique of Obama’s policies on abortion. That does damage to the First Amendment to everyone, not just Harrison.

So much for Hope and Change.

12-Year-Old's Pro-Life Presentation Saves A Life

We need to never forget that Obama is a co-sponsor of the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA). The bill's sponsors and lobbyists admit that it would nullify virtually all federal and state limitations on abortion, including the types now permitted by the Supreme Court, such as parental notification laws and waiting periods. It would also make partial-birth abortion legal again.Obama pledged to Planned Parenthood abortionists that the first thing he would do as President is sign FOCA.

That said somebody raised their kid with morals and ethics and they must be very proud

Last week I posted a blog about a 12-year-old girl named Lia who gave a 5-minute speech for her 7th grade class at school articulating her pro-life views. Lia's speech impressed her teacher (who is pro-choice) and the school and Lia won the contest, which enabled her to go on to the regional level.

Lia lost the regional speech contest, even though she presented her speech flawlessly. A video of her speech was ultimately posted on YouTube and drew over 200,000 views, although comments on the video had to be disabled because so many hateful people wrote in and posted vile threats against Lia.

However, I do have good news to report. Even though Lia ultimately lost the regional competition Monday night, LifeSite News is reporting that "she and her family are celebrating what they call the 'best trophy ever' - the saving of an unborn life, after Lia's words convinced a stranger not to abort her child." Yes, a complete stranger watched Lia's pro-life video and decided to keep her baby!

Lia's mother says that Lia was not very upset about losing the competition:Lia wasn't really that upset though, especially when she considered that the only difference between winning the competition and not winning was having a couple extra pictures taken and being given a small trophy.

Lia has a much bigger trophy - somebody commented to us on our YouTube account that her aunt watched Lia's video and decided to NOT have an abortion because of it. Yay God! Others have commented that they either never thought of the issue before or were pro-choice - but now they have changed their opinions. A St. Valentines Day Kiss-Off to Christians: Censorship of Christians Continues

Two TV stations, WOOD-TV in Grand Rapids, MI and WSYX-TV in Columbus, OH, have banned a television special showing how the media is silencing Christians. The stations bowed down to the demands of a handful of homosexual activists and banned the showing of our TV special “Speechless…Silencing the Christians.”

It’s not a myth, nor is it paranoid delusion, the fact of the matter is that Judaeo–Christian religions have been under assault in this country for years and the constant barrage of bashing and censorship isn’t likely to subside anytime soon.

A perfect and recent example of this is the misplaced backlash of the Prop 8 vote in California. In fact, beside a couple of 30 second local news clip coverage, Bill O’Reilly was the only mainstream media figure to cover the story of radical gay groups attack on Christians! This type of institutional censorship and covert defamation is all to prevalent in our news stations and our greater society these days.

Other examples include the horrific way the media and angry scared liberals attacked Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin, Barack Obama’s Bitter clingers remarks and YouTube’s removal of the Obama Abortion Video “Obama: WRONG Change for Children.” (Warning explicit graphics of Abortion)

There are hundreds, if not thousands, of similar instances across this country and indeed around the world which leads me to the latest example of censorship perpetrated by two TV stations in Grand Rapids, MI and Columbus, OH who, after being paid for the time to air the television special ‘Speechless…Silencing the Christians’ were pressured into pulling the show and refusing to air it!

Two TV stations, WOOD-TV in Grand Rapids, MI and WSYX-TV in Columbus, OH, have banned a television special showing how the media is silencing Christians. The stations bowed down to the demands of a handful of homosexual activists and banned the showing of our TV special “Speechless…Silencing the Christians.” The one-hour TV special was scheduled to be shown on the stations, but the stations yanked the program after agreeing to run it. AFA was paying for the time.

Oddly enough, the TV special shows how the media censors Christians, which is exactly what these two stations did. They said the program was “controversial.” The stations do not consider showing two lesbians or two homosexuals kissing or getting into bed with each other controversial. The stations do not consider all the profanity they air controversial. They regularly show network programs advocating the homosexual agenda, but those programs are not considered controversial. However, a special showing of Christians being silenced is controversial!

The manager of the Columbus station told AFA the station would not air the program because telling the truth about homosexuality did not represent “positive Christianity.” Are we moving to a time in the near future when local pastors whose services are broadcast will be banned because their sermons call the practice of homosexuality a sin?

I’m, by no stretch of the imagination, a religious activist but the reverse bigotry, hatred, and rage toward Judaeo–Christian religions, manifesting itself in the form of physical attack and censorship is every bit as sick and disgusting as any form of subversion and needs to be exposed and dealt with before it gets any more entrenched and ingrained in our society. Liberals are working hard to make this type of hatred and censorship the norm — Don’t let them! Stand up for the 1st amendment! Muslim NY Business Man thumbs nose at restraining order and beheads wife

NEW YORK A prominent Buffalo area businessman who founded the BridgesTV network to improve the image of Muslims in the U.S. has been arrested and charged with murdering his estranged wife – by beheading her at his company’s office in Orchard Park, N.Y., on Thursday.

Police have charged the husband, Muzzammil Hassan, 44, with second-degree murder in the death of Aasiya Z. Hassan, 37.

In its logo, BridgesTV boasts of “connecting people through understanding” via its dish network available in several states. Its Web site quotes comments about the company by Jay Leno, Brian Williams and others, plus a screen shot of a CNBC interview with Hassan conducted by Maria Bartiromo.

The site also shows a picture of Hassan with his slain wife, described as playing “an instrumental role in the creation of Bridges TV since she came up with the idea for the network.” The alleged killer is called “Mo S. Hassan” at the web site.

NPR's "All Things Considered" profiled the Hassans in 2004. The segment opened, "A new cable network for Muslim-Americans is up and running in Detroit. Bridges TV says it wants to inform and entertain Muslims and, at the same time, give viewers who aren't Muslims a glimpse into their culture ...

"Mo Hassan was traveling from Buffalo to Detroit a few weeks after the September 11th terrorist attacks when his wife came up with the idea for the new network. They were in the car listening to the radio when they heard some derogatory remarks about Muslims."

Programs include kids shows, "American Muslim Teen Talk," Amy Goodman's "Democracy Now" and an interview show with James Zogby. Its news program "brings you balanced coverage from around the world. News you can trust."

He is CEO of the company after stints as a sales rep at Proctor & Gamble and as a banker in Buffalo. He got his MBA at the University of Rochester. The bio concludes: “Mr. Hassan brings to Bridges TV vision, persistence, data-based decision making and financial discipline.”

Police say the wife had an order of protection from the man. A murder weapon has not yet been recovered. The couple had two children, ages 4 and 6.

Khalid J. Qazi, president of the Muslim Public Affairs Council of Western New York, said, “There is no place for domestic violence in our religion — none. Islam would 100 percent condemn it.”

Orwellian Evolution Lawsuit

The University of California Museum of Paleontology has a website titled, Understanding Evolution For Teachers, and on that site is a page addressing the oft-repeated fundamentalist claim that evolution and religion are mortal enemies: Misconceptions: Evolution and Religion are Incompatible.

The misconception that one always has to choose between science and religion is incorrect. Of course, some religious beliefs explicitly contradict science (e.g., the belief that the world and all life on it was created in six literal days); however, most religious groups have no conflict with the theory of evolution or other scientific findings. In fact, many religious people, including theologians, feel that a deeper understanding of nature actually enriches their faith. Moreover, in the scientific community there are thousands of scientists who are devoutly religious and also accept evolution.
Well, the idea that religion and evolution can coexist peacefully is absolute anathema to some, and now a “schoolteacher” is suing UC, with the bizarre Orwellian argument that this statement is unconstitutional: Cal Web site draws anti-evolution lawsuit.

A Christian schoolteacher from Roseville (Placer County) who takes the Bible literally says a UC Berkeley Web site about evolution is unconstitutional, like a cross in a public park.

The Web site, “Understanding Evolution,” is supported by government funds and violates the constitutional separation of church and state, according to the suit by Jeanne Caldwell.

Rebuffed by lower courts, she has appealed to the nation’s highest court, and UC joined the battle this week, saying in its response that the Internet is not like a park and that, in fact, Caldwell has no right even to file the suit. ...

Caldwell says UC’s government-funded assertion contradicts a religious belief that evolution and religion are incompatible and amounts to a state position on religious doctrine. This violates the establishment clause of the First Amendment barring Congress from making any law respecting the establishment or exercise of religion, she says.

She first sued in 2005. UC thwarted the suit in federal district court and the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco by successfully arguing that Caldwell’s exposure to the Web page is too minimal to cause the type of injury that would make her eligible to sue. The lower courts threw the case out based on her eligibility and didn’t rule on whether the Web page violates the First Amendment.

And of course, these are the same people who want to teach creationism as science, and see no constitutional violation in that.

Virginia House Approves Fetal Pain Abortion Bill, Pro-Life Budget Amendments

The Virginia state House has approved a bill to tell women of the pain a baby feels during a later-term abortion. The idea behind the bill is to help persuade women of the humanity of the unborn child and at least provide the baby with anesthesia if she plans to continue with the abortion.

Delegate Ben Cline, a Republican from Amherst, patroned the bill and the full state House approved it on Friday.

"House Bill 2634 would amend Virginia's informed consent laws to provide a woman with additional information about the ability of the unborn child to feel pain after 20 weeks of gestation," Cline's legislative aide told Capital News Service.

"(The bill) would also give the mother the option of anesthetizing the baby before the abortion is performed," the staffer added.

Planned Parenthood, the nation's largest abortion business, opposes the bill and they claim it requires abortion practitioners to distribute medically inaccurate information even though leading researchers have confirmed fetal pain exists.

Chris Freund, vice president of policy and communication for the Family Foundation, a statewide pro-life group, told CNS that he's glad the legislature approved the bill.

"We support the idea of providing a woman who is contemplating an abortion with all the information concerning the development of her unborn child," he said. "Part of that information, we believe, should be about the possibility that ... an unborn child feels pain."

Freund added that he is concerned a Senate committee will derail the bill.

"It's doubtful the bill will pass the Senate Education and Health Committee," Freund said. "If we can get it to the floor of the Senate, it's going to pass, but the Education and Health Committee has been the barrier to getting this type of legislation to the floor."

Meanwhile, the state House voted to add pro-life riders to its budget. The House included a language amendment that raises the safety standards at Virginia’s abortion centers.

The Family Foundation tells LifeNews.com that an amendment submitted by Delegate Bob Marshall defunding Planned Parenthood passed 61-28.

"During this decade, Virginia taxpayers have unknowingly sent nearly $500,000 to one of the most partisan organizations in our nation, Planned Parenthood. This pro-abortion organization has an annual budget nationally of more than $1 billion. Particularly in these difficult times, we should not be asking the citizens of Virginia to send their hard earned money to this group," the pro-life group said.

Another amendment, also submitted by Delegate Marshall, prohibits the use of taxpayer funding of abortions.

In 2006 and 2007, Virginia tax dollars funded 322 abortions (160 in fiscal-year 2007, and 162 in fiscal 2006)

"Federal government subsidizes abortions only when a Medicaid-eligible woman’s life is at risk or in the cases of rape and incest," the Family Foundation said. "In Virginia, we fund abortions beyond what is required by the Federal government. This extra funding should stop now."

An amendment sponsored by Delegate Kirk Cox, that prevents funding of destructive embryonic stem cell research, passed 79-21.

Also today, the House voted 61-36 to add to the budget policy language that raises the safety standards of abortion centers. Similar legislation has passed the House several times in recent years, only to be defeated in the Senate Education and Health committee.

ADF attorneys file suit against L.A. Community College District after professor calls student 'fascist bastard' for sharing beliefs on faith and marriage

LOS ANGELES — Attorneys with the Alliance Defense Fund Center for Academic Freedom filed a lawsuit against officials of the Los Angeles Community College District Wednesday. The lawsuit comes after a professor censored and threatened to expel a student following a speech about marriage and his Christian faith during an open-ended assignment in a public speaking class.

"Christian students shouldn't be penalized or discriminated against for speaking about their beliefs," said ADF Senior Counsel David French. "Public institutions of higher learning cannot selectively censor Christian speech. This student was speaking well within the confines of his professor's assignment when he was censored and ultimately threatened with expulsion."

On Nov. 24, 2008, Los Angeles City College speech professor John Matteson interrupted and ended Jonathan Lopez's presentation mid-speech, calling him a "fascist bastard" in front of the class for speaking about his faith, which included reading the dictionary definition of marriage and reciting two Bible verses. Instead of allowing Lopez to finish, Matteson told the other students they could leave if they were offended. When no one left, Matteson dismissed the class. Refusing to grade the assigned speech, Matteson wrote on Lopez's evaluation, "Ask God what your grade is."

One week later, after seeing Lopez talking to the college's dean of academic affairs, Matteson told Lopez that he would make sure he'd be expelled from school. Matteson's treatment of Lopez during his speech follows an earlier incident in which Matteson told his entire class after the November election, "If you voted yes on Proposition 8, you are a fascist bastard."

"Professor Matteson clearly violated Mr. Lopez's free speech rights by engaging in viewpoint discrimination and retaliation because he disagreed with the student's religious beliefs," said French. "When students are given open-ended assignments in a public speaking class, the First Amendment protects their ability to express their views. Moreover, the district has a speech code that has created a culture of censorship on campus. America's public universities and colleges are supposed to be a 'marketplace of ideas,' not a hotbed of intolerance."

Abortion and Premature Birth Link Confirmed Again in Study of German Women

Berlin, Germany (LifeNews.com) — Another study has confirmed the link between abortion and subsequent premature births when a woman is pregnant again. Previous studies have substantiated the link and now new research involving more than one million births show abortion is responsible for elevating pre-term birth risk.

Dr. Manfred Voigt led the new study, published in the German medical magazine Z Geburtshilfe Neonatol late last year.

According to the research, women who have one prior abortion boost their risk for a very premature birth in a future pregnancy by 30 percent.

Women who have had more than one prior abortion increase their risk of a very premature birth by 90 percent — making it a virtual guarantee that future pregnancies will be problematic.

Canadian researcher Brent Rooney, who has published his own work on the abortion-premature birth link, talked with LifeNews.com on Wednesday about the new study.

Rooney said the Voigt-led team has “removed any lingering doubt about prior induced abortions raising the risk of ‘early’ premature (under 32-34 weeks’ gestation) birth.”

“By a factor of over four, with 1,065,202 births, the 2008 Dr. Manfred Voigt study is the most massive AVP (Abortion Very Preterm Birth) study in the last 30 years,” he said.

Rooney says the common criticism from abortion advocates about studies show post-abortion problems is a concern regarding recall bias. But the Voigt team had access to accurate abortion data from a governmental database without having to interview women about whether they had abortions.

“Deniers of the abortion-preemie risk would like to claim the women with a bad pregnancy outcome may not provide accurate information about their induced abortion history,” Rooney said. “Data about women’s prior induced abortion history in the ‘Voigt’ study was extracted from a perinatal data-base.”

With the new German study, Rooney says there are now 17 statistically significant studies all confirming the abortion-very premature birth link.

Another 105 significant studies report a link between abortion and slightly premature birth or low birth weight babies.

“Thus, the 2008 German study clearly demonstrates that prior induced abortions still raise the risk of pre-term babies and low birth weight babies in all countries,” he told LifeNews.com.

President Obama's stimulus bill discriminates against Christians and people of faith. The stimulus bans universities and colleges from using funds to renovate buildings where students engage in "religious worship."

U.S. Senator Jim DeMint made the following statement after Democrats voted 43-54 against his amendment to strike from the economic stimulus bill language that discriminates against people of faith. Senator DeMint's amendment would have eliminated a provision that bans any university or college receiving restoration funds, from allowing "sectarian instruction" or "religious worship" within the facility. This would in effect bar use of campus buildings for groups like Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Campus Crusade for Christ, Catholic Student Ministries, Hillel and other religious organizations.

"This is a direct attack on students of faith, and I'm outraged Democrats are using an economic stimulus bill to promote discrimination," said Sen. DeMint. "Democrats should be ashamed of themselves for siding with the ACLU over millions of students of faith. These students simply want equal access to public facilities, which is their constitutional right. This hostility toward religion must end. Those who voted for this discrimination are standing in the schoolhouse door to keep people of faith from entering any campus building renovated by this bill.

"This is now an ACLU stimulus designed to trigger lawsuits designed to intimidate religious organizations across the nation. This language is so vague, it's not clear if students can even pray in a dorm room renovated with this funding since that is a form of 'religious worship.' If this provision remains in the bill, it will have a chilling effect on students of faith in America" he continued.

"Our culture cannot survive without faith and our nation cannot survive without freedom. This provision is an assault against both. It's un-American and it's unconstitutional. Intolerant and it's intolerable."

This funding restriction is unconstitutional. In the 2001 Good News Club v. Milford Central School Supreme Court decision, the court ruled that restricting religious speech within the context of public shared-use facilities (or schools) is unconstitutional.

Pages 164-165 of the stimulus contain the following prohibitions on the use of $3.5 billion available for renovation of public or private college and university facilities.

(2) PROHIBITED USES OF FUNDS. No funds awarded under this section may be used for - (C) modernization, renovation, or repair of facilities (i) used for sectarian instruction, religious worship, or a school or department of divinity; or (ii) in which a substantial portion of the functions of the facilities are subsumed in a religious mission; or construction of new facilities.

Former Speaker Newt Gingrich urges Christian activists and other conservatives to e-mail and call their representative and senators demanding that the language discriminating against people of faith be removed.

Gingrich feels that if Christian activists would have enough courage and holy anger to e-mail and call their representatives and senators, a number of Democrats would vote no on final passage. We should demand that this anti-religious provision be removed.

Christians have not expressed enough outrage focused on the concept that people of faith are being taken advantage of by the stimulus bill during a time of crisis. They are being stolen from them when they are down and out and looking in good faith to the government for help. Instead of the stimulus we need, the liberals are getting the pork that they want -- for themselves, their families, and their friends. They are pickpockets and thieves preying on the down and out.

It's as if the Good Samaritan had come over to the man who was robbed and left for dead, bent over, and reached for his wallet and ran on his way instead of helping. It's like the looter who takes advantage of a natural disaster to steal."

Christian TV special being stifled

The American Family Association (AFA), a pro-family group based in Mississippi, has encountered resistance in its attempts to air a television special called Speechless: Silencing the Christians.

According to the website SilencingChristians.com, the majority of Americans get their information about the homosexual movement from Hollywood and the secular news media -- outlets that deliver what AFA says is a message "tainted by pro-homosexual propaganda." That is why the pro-family group produced the 14-episode Speechless series that initially aired on the INSP Network, and then put together a one-hour special based on the series.

AFA is now buying prime-time slots on the nation's television stations to present that special to provide factual, Christian-based information on the topic. But the pro-family group reports it has run up against blatant "silencing" of that message. "There's a real threat to our First Amendment and free-speech rights because Christians are being shut down and shut out and shut up by the very people who say they champion freedom of speech," asserts AFA president Tim Wildmon.

For example, WSXY in Columbus, Ohio, has refused the air the program. WSPA in Greenville, South Carolina, aired it, but then ran an apology from the station manager. And in Grand Rapids, Michigan, WOOD-TV agreed initially to air the show Monday evening, then bumped it to Wednesday, then proposed to run it on Saturday afternoon -- and now has cancelled it entirely.

WOOD-TV general manager Diane Kniowski told The Grand Rapids Press that the station made a "fair offer" to AFA, but received no response regarding the Saturday airing.

"Our station is being bombarded with calls and messages, and we find ourselves in the middle of someone else's fight," Kniowski stated. "Ours was a fair offer and we are removing ourselves from this matter."

Wildmon sees outright irony in what is happening. "It's ironic that the very issue we're bringing up -- that Christians are being rendered speechless when they talk about this issue -- is actually happening to us when it comes to the program itself," he observes.

Why are stations responding that way? According to Wildmon, they are reacting to complaints from homosexual activists about airing Speechless. "[The stations are] just giving us the runaround," he says. "They've heard from a few of the homosexual, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered supporters out there -- and so they haven't heard massively from our folks yet."

But the AFA president predicts they will. He argues that the TV special simply tells the truth -- and he urges people to visit SilencingChristians.com, where segments of the show can be viewed. Wildmon also encourages people in cities where the show is scheduled to contact their local TV station and voice their support for airing it.

Political Action
Write to representatives and others in government at local, state, and national levels. Be respectful, legible, straightforward, brief and non-defensive. Enclose attractive pro-life literature. The more personal your letter, the better.
Personally phone or set up a meeting with your representatives to share your views on abortion. Groups of three are most effective. If possible include a pro-life doctor or other professional.
Draft, circulate, and sign petitions for pro-life ballot measures, school board members, and so on.
Run for political office, school board, or precinct chairman. Or stand by other pro-life candidates with your time and money. Churches and pro-life groups should identify and support character-qualified, knowledgeable, and skilled candidates.
Help a bright young pro-lifer through law school. Challenge him or her to set a goal of becoming a judge. Encourage pro-lifers to enter the medical or political fields as well.

Pro-life Events
Picket abortion clinics, hospitals, and physicians who perform abortions. Write a brochure or fact sheet documenting their performance of abortions. When abortions are only part of their practice, they are much more inclined to eliminate them to preserve their reputation in the community.
Make pro-life signs for yourself and others. Make them large and attractive, with concise (and respectful) messages.
Organize or participate in a Life Chain.
Join pro-life rallies and marches to galvanize pro-life efforts.
Attend pro-choice rallies as a counter-demonstrator. Be peaceful.
Participate in peaceful nonviolent civil disobedience at the doorways of abortion clinics, or by standing and praying or distributing literature on public sidewalks where courts say the First Amendment doesn’t apply… Or gather for prayer in conjunction with such civil disobedience. (My note: such a decision should be made with much prayer with the understanding of potential consequences.)

Abortion Clinic Strategies
Research and write a brochure on your local abortion clinic, citing specific lawsuits and health code violations, which are a matter of public record.
Collect information and initiate lawsuits against abortion clinics. Place newspaper or billboard ads asking, “Problems after an abortion?” Give a local or national phone number to call for medical, legal, or emotional help. Many abortion clinics have been shut down by successful lawsuits.
Hand out questionnaires and legal information to women entering and leaving clinics. “Did you have a doctor-patient relationship? Did the doctor ask you for a complete medical history? Did he explain to you the possible complications of abortion? Did he show you a picture or explain to you the state of development of your unborn child?” Include the number of an alternative pregnancy center.
Keep new abortion clinics out of your community by informing the public, writing letters to council members, and contacting potential landlords and real estate agents. Abortion clinics mean loss of business and declining property values due to public sentiment and frequent demonstrations.
Rent space as close as possible to an abortion clinic or Planned Parenthood office and establish a pregnancy counseling center or pro-life information center.

Influencing Your Church
Organize a pro-life task force and approach key church leaders.
Set up a pro-life table at church with the best pro-life literature and materials.
Construct a Memorial Rose Garden on your church property, where people can place memorials to unborn children who died and whose memory they wish to preserve.
Place a pro-life newspaper ad, bench ad, or billboard with your church’s name and phone number, offering your help to pregnant girls.
Take your church bus to pro-life activities.
Have a special pro-life emphasis Sundays with special music, speakers, films and literature.
Bring pro-life issues and opportunities to the attention of your pastor, Sunday school class, Bible study, or men’s women’s, or youth group.
Start a group of sidewalk counselors from your church that go once or twice a week to talk to women outside abortion clinics.
Pray daily for pro-life ministries and victimized mothers and babies.

On the 36th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision I thought it would be appropriate to share ways in which those who are pro-life can help unborn babies and their mothers. These ideas are not my own, but come from a very excellent resource, a book called Pro Life Answers to Pro Choice Arguments by Randy Alcorn (2000, Multnomah). I highly, highly recommend this book. I thought I’d share the first 25 today, and the rest tomorrow.

Direct Personal Involvement
Open your home to a pregnant girl.
Open your home to an “unwanted” child for foster care or adoption.
Volunteer time with organizations that help the marginalized. Alcorn states that “personal care is the most basic pro-life activity.”
Establish a pregnancy counseling and abortion alternative service.
Donate materials & money to pregnancy centers, Birthright, Bethany Christian Services and other pro-life groups.
Teach your children and other young people how to say no to premarital sex.

Educating Yourself and Others
Become thoroughly informed about the abortion issue.
Talk to your friends, neighbors and coworkers.
Volunteer your services as a pro-life speaker.
Promote discussion of abortion in internet chat rooms.
Students: write papers, make speeches, and start a campus prlife group.
Display attractive pro-life posters and information at your office or shop.
Literature, Visuals and Advertising

Order and distribute pro-life literature.
Donate pro-life books and magazine subscriptions to public and school libraries.

Talk to journalists about your concern that they accurately represent the pro-life side in their reporting.
Talk to teachers, especially junior high, high school, and college teachers. Express your desire that they understand and be able to represent the pro-life position rather than ignore it or distort it.

The Coming Evangelical Collapse

Michael Spencer, the Internet Monk, wrote a series on “The Coming Evangelical Collapse.” I’ve tucked this away wanting to discuss this here. His prediction:

I believe that we are on the verge- within 10 years- of a major collapse of evangelical Christianity; a collapse that will follow the deterioration of the mainline Protestant world and that will fundamentally alter the religious and cultural environment in the West. I believe this evangelical collapse will happen with astonishing statistical speed; that within two generations of where we are now evangelicalism will be a house deserted of half its current occupants, leaving in its wake nothing that can revitalize evangelicals to their former “glory.”

He goes on to flesh out further what this would look like - seeing an increasing anti-Christian environment, ministries closing, Christian media being non-existent, churches decreasing in size, Christian school enrollment declining. etc. He makes an important clarifying point.

My prediction has nothing to do with a loss of eschatological optimism. Far from it. I’m convinced the grace and mission of God will reach to the ends of the earth. But I am not optimistic about evangelicalism, and I do not believe any of the apparently lively forms of evangelicalism today are going to be the answer.

His reasons for why he thinks this is going to happen:

1. Evangelicals have identified their movement with the culture war
and with political conservatism.

2. Evangelicals have failed to pass on to our young people the evangelical Christian faith in an orthodox form that can take root and survive the secular onslaught.

3. Evangelical churches have now passed into a three part chapter: a.) mega-churches that are consumer driven, b) churches that are dying and c) new churches whose future is dependent on a large number of factors.

4. Despite some very successful developments in the last 25 years, Christian education has not produced a product that can hold the line in the rising tide of secularism.

5. The deterioration and collapse of the evangelical core will eventually weaken the missional-compassionate work of the evangelical movement.

6. At the core of this collapse will be the inability to pass on, to our children, a vital
evangelical confidence in the Bible and the importance of faith.

7. A major aspect of this collapse will happen because money will not be flowing toward evangelicalism in the same way as before.

I can’t say I share Spencer’s pessimism regarding evangelicals, but I do want to validate his concerns. With evangelicals, our movement should be identified with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, not Republicans (or Democrats). We can be Republicans or Democrats, but we all need to remember first and foremost that we belong to the King.

Obama’s Abortion Decision Least Popular

President Obama’s decision to overturn the Mexico City policy to allow funding for family planning organizations that provide abortions is his least popular decision according to a recent Gallup poll.

Further, Obama’s decision to reverse the prohibition on funding for overseas family-planning providers may be the least popular thing he has done so far. This was an executive order that forbade federal government money from going to overseas family-planning groups that provide abortions or offer abortion counseling. Fifty-eight percent of Americans disapprove of Obama’s decision to lift this ban, while only 35% approve of it. The ban on federal funds to these groups was put in place by Ronald Reagan, but lifted by Bill Clinton. George W. Bush re-instituted the ban after taking office in 2001, but Obama has once again lifted it.

The abortion and Guantanamo Bay prison decisions are especially unpopular among Republicans; only 8% approve of the former and 11% of the latter. But these are also the least popular decisions among independents and Democrats as well, though a majority of Democrats still approve of both.

This is just further proof that Obama’s positions on abortion do not resonate with the majority of the American people. Let’s pray that he’ll stop being tone deaf on this issue.

Ashley Judd supports Partial Birth Abortion but calls necessary wolf killings "Senseless Savagery"

Palin’s accused of "casting aside science and championing the slaughter of wildlife." Viewers are urged to help stop Palin’s "senseless savagery."

Last year, Judd appeared on a panel of the Clinton Global Initiative and promoted her pro-abortion agenda. She declared to our gang at CNSNews.com that "a woman voting for McCain and Palin is like a chicken voting for Colonel Sanders." So let’s get this straight. According to the humanitarian ethics of Ashley Judd, Sarah Palin shouldn’t allow wolves to be shot from an airplane, but she should allow human babies to have their skulls vacuumed out and killed in a partial-birth abortion. Who here is in favor of "senseless savagery" again?

This actress-playing-a-scientist makes no attempt to engage in any "sense" on the other side. She’s for letting the lovable wolves live. But the wolves are being killed to increase the moose and caribou population. If she was against "senseless savagery," why is she pro-wolf? It’s pretty funny that a group called "Defenders of Wildlife" is completely in favor of wolves slaughtering caribou. They’re defenders of wildlife from humans, but they love all wildlife indiscriminately enough to completely avoid the issues of how animals savagely kill and eat each other.

Palin knows from personal experience that moose is an important food source for humans in Alaska, but Ashley Judd doesn’t care about the humans in Alaska – unless they’re buying movie tickets.

A Christian nurse in Britain threatened with dismissal for offering to pray for her patients' recovery has been reinstated to her position, according to a report from the Christian Legal Centre.

"North Somerset Primary Care Trust, in a statement issued on 5th February, said that they recognized that Mrs. [Caroline] Petrie had been acting in the 'best interests of her patients' and that nurses did not have to 'set aside their faith' in the workplace, and could 'continue to offer high quality care for patients while remaining committed to their beliefs,'" the legal organization
announced today.

As WND reported, Petrie was suspended and faced further discipline because her employer claimed she failed to show a personal and professional commitment to equality and diversity" when she suggested the prayer.

Columbia, SC (LifeNews.com) -- A South Carolina legislative committee has approved a bill that would provide appropriate medical care and protection for babies who are born alive after a failed abortion. The bill implements a federal law that accomplishes the same purpose and is similar to the Illinois measure President Barack Obama opposed.

The Born-Alive Infant Protection Act says any child born alive in South Carolina is a person under state law.

It applies in cases such as a baby born after a failed abortion or where a premature birth is purposefully induced.

Rep. Greg Delleney, a Republican, is the sponsor of the bill and the head of a subcommittee that approved the measure. The bill now heads to the full House Judiciary Committee for its consideration.

There, earlier this week, the panel approved a bill calling for a 24-hour waiting period before an abortion can be done.

Delleney says the bill requires medical care be given to infants in the same way any other patient deserves proper treatment.

"It seems pretty simple," he said, according to an AP report. "If you come here a living, breathing person, you have to be treated as such. But since Roe v. Wade, life has been devalued.'

President Obama's proposed economic stimulus plan makes a deliberate – and unconstitutional – attempt to censor religious speech and worship on school campuses across the nation, according to a lawyer who argued related cases before the U.S. Supreme Court 20 years ago and won them all.

"This isn't like a convenient oversight. This is intentional. This legislation pokes its finger in the eyes of people who hold religious beliefs," Jay Sekulow, chief of the American Center for Law and Justice, told WND today.

His was the organization that decades ago argued on behalf of speech freedom on school campuses, winning repeatedly at the U.S. Supreme Court. Since then, the 2001 Good News Club v. Milford Central School District decision was added, clarifying that restricting religious speech within the context of public shared-use facilities is unconstitutional.

The problem in the proposed stimulus bill comes from a provision that states: "PROHIBITED USES OF FUNDS. - No funds awarded under this section may be used for - (C) modernization, renovation, or repair of facilities - (i) used for sectarian instruction, religious worship, or a school or department of divinity; or (ii) in which a substantial portion of the functions of the facilities are subsumed in a religious mission."

The wording that specifically targets religious speech already has been approved by the majority Democrats in the U.S. House – all GOP members opposed it. In the Senate, Jim DeMint, R-S.C., proposed an amendment to eliminate it, but again majority Democrats decided to keep the provision targeting religious instruction and activities.

I caught just the end of his remarks. What I saw last night and in his last press conference the other day made me wonder why that version of Bush 43 didn't show up more often.

Tuned into Chris Matthews immediately after the president finished.
After a minute, could I, I would've reached through cyberspace and slapped Matthews up side the head.
His first words were practically, "Bush came to Washington as a rich kid, a tabula rasa, no experience . . ."
Immediately, I thought: Have you no shame, Matthews? Could you at least have said one decent word about the outgoing president?

As for Mr. Tingle-Up-My-Leg-About-Obama, I felt embarrassed for his ignorance and numbed, decevied mind--that he could actually say a sitting governor of one of the country's largest states, a businessman, someone with military experience as a pilot came to D.C. without experience -- yet Barack Hussein Obama, he who causes sexual/physiological stirrings in Matthews' loins, quite literally is a textbook definition of tabula rasa.

Sully Sullenberger III is being touted as duly deserved by his fellow pilots and Proud NY Governor and Mayor as a great American Hero;

Fellow pilot Freeman: “There’s not many pilots who could have brought that plane down with no injuries. It was a perfectly controlled maneuver. That pilot is a hero.”
Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Gov. David Paterson heaped praise on the rescue effort."They train for these kinds of emergencies, and you saw it in action," Bloomberg said. "Because of their fast brave work, we think that contributed to the fact that it looks like everybody is safe."
Paterson said it was a miracle.
"I think that in simplicity, this is really a potential tragedy that may have become one of the most spectacular days in the history of New York City's agencies," he said.

The pilot who guided a crippled US Airways jetliner safely into the Hudson River — saving all 155 people aboard — became an instant hero Thursday, with accolades from the mayor and governor and a fan club online.

The pilot of Flight 1549 was Chesley B. "Sully" Sullenberger III, 57, of Danville, Calif., an official familiar with the accident told The Associated Press. Sullenberger is a former fighter pilot who runs a safety consulting firm in addition to flying commercial aircraft.

Sullenberger, who has flown for US Airways since 1980, flew F-4 fighter jets with the Air Force in the 1970s. He then served on a board that investigated aircraft accidents and participated later in several National Transportation Safety Board investigations.

Sullenberger had been studying the psychology of keeping airline crews functioning even in the face of crisis, said Robert Bea, a civil engineer who co-founded UC Berkeley's Center for Catastrophic Risk Management.

Bea said he could think of few pilots as well-situated to bring the plane down safely than Sullenberger.

"When a plane is getting ready to crash with a lot of people who trust you, it is a test.. Sulley proved the end of the road for that test. He had studied it, he had rehearsed it, he had taken it to his heart."

Sullenberger is president of Safety Reliability Methods, a California firm that uses "the ultra-safe world of commercial aviation" as a basis for safety consulting in other fields, according to the firm's Web site.

Sullenberger's mailbox at the firm was full on Thursday. A group of fans sprang up on Facebook within hours of the emergency landing.

"OMG, I am terrified of flying but I would be happy to be a passenger on one of your aircraft!!" Melanie Wills in Bristol wrote on the wall of "Fans of Sully Sullenberger." "You have saved a lot of peoples lives and are a true hero!!"

The pilot "did a masterful job of landing the plane in the river and then making sure that everybody got out," Mayor Michael Bloomberg said. "He walked the plane twice after everybody else was off, and tried to verify that there was nobody else on board, and he assures us there was not."

"He was the last one up the aisle and he made sure that there was nobody behind him."

Gov. David Paterson pronounced it a "miracle on the Hudson."

A woman who answered the phone at Sullenberger's home in Danville hung up on a reporter who asked to speak with the family.

Candace Anderson, a member of the Danville town council who lives a few blocks from Sullenberger, said it was an amazing story and she was proud to live in the same town as the pilot.

"You look at his training, you look at his experience. It was just the right pilot at the right time in charge of that plane that saved so many lives," Anderson said. "He is a man who is calm, cool, collected, just as he was today."

Sullenberger's co-pilot was Jeff Skiles, 49, of Oregon, Wis., a 23-year US Airways veteran.
"He was OK," said his wife, Barbara. "He was relieved that everybody got off."

Post-Abortion Counselor Confirms Abortions Cause Women Mental Health Issues

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- While numerous studies confirm abortions cause women subsequent mental health issues, abortion advocates downplay them so abortion isn't seed in a negative light. But one doctor who counsels women after abortions says the proof is in the actual experiences of women who regret their choice.

Dr. Linda Mintle, who counsels women after abortions, says she sees problems such as depression, anxiety and substance abuse on a regular basis in the women who have had abortions.

"Abortion is a loss," Mintle told CBN News on Wednesday.

"It's a loss of a life and so it only makes sense that even though you thought in your mind that this is what you wanted to do, it feels very out of control once they do it, so that out of control loss feeling results in anxiety," she explained.

To deal with the psychological pain of an abortion they grieve, Mintle says women often turn to drugs or alcohol and eventually develop additions to those substances.

While groups such as the American Psychological Association, which is controlled by abortion advocates, deny the abortion-mental health link, Mintle told CBN News that an honest evaluation of post-abortion women reveals it exists.

"I have to tell you that I feel there is a lot of political pressure put on researchers and therapists to not really talk about the down side of abortion because there is such a strong pro-choice lobby in this country," Mintle said.

She told the news service that women should be given information before an abortion telling them of these post-abortion mental health complications.

Mintle's comments follow the release of three new studies from researchers across the globe that confirmed an abortion-mental health issue link exists.

Dr. Priscilla Coleman, a professor of Human Development and Family Studies at Bowling Green State University, and her colleagues published a study in December in the Journal of Psychiatric Research.

The research team found induced abortions result in increased risks for a myriad of mental health problems ranging from anxiety to depression to substance abuse disorders.

The number of cases of mental health issues rose by as much as 17 percent in women having abortions compared to those who didn't have one and the risks of each particular mental health problem rose as much as 145% for post-abortive women.

For 12 out of 15 of the mental health outcomes examined, a decision to have an abortion resulted in an elevated risk for women.

"What is most notable in this study is that abortion contributed significant independent effects to numerous mental health problems above and beyond a variety of other traumatizing and stressful life experiences," they concluded.

Also last month, researchers at Otago University in New Zealand reported their findings in the British Journal of Psychiatry and found that women who have abortions have an increased risk of developing mental health problems.

The study found that women who had abortions had rates of mental health problems about 30% higher than other women. The conditions most associated with abortion included anxiety disorders and substance abuse disorders.

Abortions increased the risk of severe depression and anxiety by one-third and as many as 5.5 percent of all mental health disorders seen in New Zealand result from women having abortions.

A third study, from a team at the University of Queensland and published in the December issue of the British Journal of Psychiatry, found women who have an abortion are three times more likely to experience a drug or alcohol problem during their lifetime.

Undercover investigation reveals business skirting state law

While Kansas doctor George Tiller is still fighting accusations of illegally aborting 19 viable babies, an undercover sting operation conducted by a pro-life organization revealed his clinic intentionally underestimating fetal age and viability to dodge state laws.

According to a sworn statement, a pregnant mother calling herself "Shaye" received a sonogram from Tiller's clinic determining her baby was beyond the allowed legal age of abortion, but the test's administrator "threw it into a trashcan" and recalculated a lesser gestational age. The clinic scheduled Shaye for an abortion four days later.

Shaye, working undercover with the pro-life organization Operation Rescue, later that day received two additional sonograms from other medical centers, both showing the baby beyond the legal abortion age. Further, even at the age recalculated by Tiller's clinic, the abortion four days later would have still been beyond the age of viability.

"This evidence warrants further investigation by law enforcement authorities," said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman in a statement on ChristianNewsWire. "This is convincing proof that, in spite of already facing 19 criminal charges, Tiller continues to flout the law to the danger of women and their babies."

As WND reported, Tiller, whose abortion work was featured in a recent profile by WND columnist Jack Cashill, faces accusations for aborting viable babies without obtaining the legally required, independent second opinion affirming the medical necessity for late-term abortions.

According to Kansas law, if a clinic determines a fetus past the age of viability – a gestational age of 22 weeks, or 23 with sonogram equipment – a second, independent physician must agree that the abortion is medically necessary.

When Shaye entered Tiller's Women's Health Care Services in Wichita, however, the sonogram showed her baby to be nearly 25 weeks. According to Shaye's statement:

The woman who gave me the ultrasound at WHCS was Lindsey Alejandro. She informed me that my baby was 24 weeks, 6 days gestation. I told her that I did not think I could be that far along, so she told me she was going to try something else.

At that point, Ms. Alejandro tore off the ultrasound photo that showed 24 weeks, 6 days gestation and threw it into a trashcan. She remeasured the baby from another angle and the measurements came up as 23 weeks gestation.

Ms. Alejandro told me that I could have the abortion because it is a woman's choice up until 24 weeks.

National Planned Parenthood Fires 20 Percent of Staff After Madoff Scandal

The Madoff fundraising scandal has had some beneficial fallout for the pro-life movement. Combined with the current economic downturn, the Planned Parenthood Federation of America is feeling the pinch and has laid off 20 percent of its staff.

The nation's largest abortion business, which does 25 percent of all abortions in the United States annually, laid off about 30 people this week.

Executives at Planned Parenthood confirmed the layoffs in an interview with the Crain's New York business publication.

“As with many other nonprofit organizations, Planned Parenthood has had to make staff reductions at our headquarters due to the challenging economic times facing our country,” Planned Parenthood chief operating officer Maryana Iskander said.

“While taking this action is never easy, we want to ensure the millions of women and men who rely on Planned Parenthood as a health care provider that the reductions will not impact our ability to deliver care to those in need," Iskander added.

What Iskander didn't discuss is the effect of the Madoff scandal on Planned Parenthood's income.

The Florida-based Picower Foundation, which gave substantial donations to the abortion business, shut down in December because Bernard Madoff had mismanaged its assets. The foundation was worth $1 billion and one of the top financial backers of pro-abortion groups.

The charity has given away more than $189 million since 1999 and a sizable chunk of the money went to abortion advocates, including $3.2 million to NARAL, $2.5 million for the Center for Reproductive Rights, $2.4 million for Planned Parenthood, and $625,000 for the Center for Reproductive Law and Policy, according to the American Spectator.

The JEHT Foundation, which gave away $24 million last year to groups, including pro-abortion organizations, also announced in December that it would be shutting its doors. JEHT gave $1.7 million to the ACLU and its foundation and $4.2 million to the Tides Foundation, which heavily funds pro-abortion groups.

News of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America laying off staff comes on the heels of one of its affiliates doing so.

Planned Parenthood of Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota said in December that hard economic times forced it to lay off 10 employees covering nine and a half positions including its South Dakota director.

South Dakota director Kate Looby, who has overseen the lone South Dakota abortion business, run by Planned Parenthood in Sioux Falls, since 2003, confirmed she would be fired from her position.

Florida Conservatives Fight City Ordinance Allowing Transgendered Residents to Use Restroom of Choice: Disturbing Television Commercial

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — A blond girl heads from a playground into a women’s restroom. A scruffy man, lurking outside, darts in behind her. “Your City Commission Made This Legal,” the words on the TV screen read.

The dark ad came from opponents of a gender identity provision added last year to the city’s anti-discrimination ordinance, which now allows the city’s roughly 100 transgender residents to use whichever restroom they’re most comfortable using.

Foes want to repeal the new protection with a March 24 ballot measure that has divided Gainesville, a generally gay-friendly university city surrounded by staunchly conservative north Florida.

Those who support the transgender protections say their opponents are really unleashing a broader attack on the rights of gay, lesbian and transgender individuals in general.

The city commission approved the restroom provision by a 4-3 vote a year ago. Before the ink could dry, Bible-quoting opponents angrily began working for its repeal.

“You are trying to operate in a realm you do not have the authority to operate in,” one pastor, George Brantley, told the commissioners.

The debate is expected to become noisier as the ballot nears with opponents resorting to more TV ads and campaigns pegged to such slogans as “Keep Men out of Women’s Restrooms and vice versa.”

Organizations defending transgender rights are mustering their own campaign.

The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force notes 108 cities and counties nationwide have similar transgender protections. An attempt to repeal an ordinance in Montgomery County, Md., failed when a court ruled opponents did not collect enough signatures to place it on the ballot.

Citizens for Good Public Policy, the group behind the commercial that aired last summer in Gainesville, collected more than 6,000 signatures last summer to win a referendum. If approved, the repeal measure would also prevent the commission from adding protections beyond what the state requires: race, color, sex, religion, national origin, age, disability and marital status.

Cain Davis, chairman of Citizens for Good Public Policy, said the issue is about regulating a “government gone wild” and ensuring public safety, charging that sexual predators could now simply enter a women’s restroom claiming to be a transgender individual.

“We know when men go into women’s restrooms, bad things can happen,” Davis said.

City Commissioner Craig Lowe, leader of a group called Equality is Gainesville’s Business, called the ads from Davis’ group a grossly distorted attempt to whip up fears.

Lowe’s group believes anti-discrimination protections for people who change their sexual orientation are good for business and foster diversity. He noted that 433 of the Fortune 500 companies have policies covering sexual orientation and 153 cover gender identity.

Since the ordinance took effect, police have reported no problems in public restrooms stemming from the law.

Retired postal worker Donna Lee, who became a female with surgery in 2001, moved to Gainesville from Ocala last March after hearing about the anti-discrimination ordinance. The 60-year-old is working to save the protections.

“We just want to live our lives with the basic civil rights that everyone else has,” Lee said.

But some are taking no chances.

Computer programmer Clare Holman, who was born male but now lives as a female, said she simply stays away from public toilets.

“I don’t want to run afoul of the law by using the wrong restroom,” Holman said

Family advocacy group announces Pepsi boycott

The American Family Association (AFA) is calling for a boycott of PepsiCo over its support of pro-homosexual groups.

In October, AFA twice wrote officials with PepsiCo, requesting a meeting to discuss the company's role in the culture war. AFA wished the company would remain neutral, neither supporting nor opposing the homosexual agenda. But according to the AFA, Pepsi has given millions to homosexual-friendly groups and causes. In an Action Alert to its supporters on January 8, the pro-family group cited instances in which the soft drink conglomerate gave half-a-million dollars to two separate pro-homosexual groups -- the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), and Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG). According to that Action Alert, the $1 million was to be used to "help promote homosexuality in the workplace."

In addition, according to AFA, Pepsi "forces" its employees to attend sexual orientation and gender-identity diversity training "where they are taught to accept homosexuality." In a November 2008 response from Pepsi's public policy director, Paul Boykas, the company acknowledged its grant to PFLAG for an initiative designed to "promote further understanding and equality" in the workplace -- something he said is in line with the values promoted by the PepsiCo Foundation, which awarded the grant.

Randy Sharp, special projects director with AFA, claims Pepsi has not addressed the company's support of the homosexual agenda, and says it is time the company feels heat from Christian consumers. "We're asking people, number one, not to buy these products; and number two, and more importantly, to let Pepsi know that they're joining the boycott by going [online] and signing the boycott pledge," he explains. Both HRC and PFLAG supported efforts in California to defeat Proposition 8, a voter initiative amending that state's constitution to define marriage as the union of one man and one woman. Prop. 8 passed in November with 52 percent of the vote.

A legal alliance of Christian attorneys is taking University of Wisconsin hospitals to task on second-trimester abortions. Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) attorney Matt Bowman has sent a letter to officials at the hospitals and clinics about implementing a secret and potentially illegal plan to perform the abortions with a jointly-operated clinic.

“In Wisconsin there’s a plan to take a legitimate medical facility and impose upon it — by its leadership at the University of Wisconsin — late-term, second-trimester abortions,” he explains, “and pro-life health professionals at the facility who object are in danger of being required to participate in some way.”

According to an ADF press release, the plan could force reluctant employees to “[dismember] preborn babies,” regardless of firmly held religious views they might have against it. The act could also be determined as illegal funding of abortion by the state.Bowman believes no one should be forced to act against ethical or religious objections in the work place. “ADF is prepared to take legal action immediately on any coercion or penalties applied to pro-life health professionals because of their objection to this,” he points out. Any coercion, Bowman adds, could mean the school is violating state or federal law, or both.

On December 23, the “conservative” preacher Pat Robertson told CNN’s Suzanne Malveaux that he was pleased as punch with the election of Barack Obama. “I am remarkably pleased with Obama. I had grave misgivings about him. But so help me, he’s come in forcefully, intelligently. He’s picked a middle of the road cabinet. And so far, if he continues down this course, he has the makings of a great president,” said Robertson.

Yes, Obama’s cabinet is so “middle-of-the-road” that Dick Cheney (??!) is pleased with it. Obama’s cabinet is anything but middle-of-the-road. Robertson expects a “great presidency” out of Obama. What will this look like, exactly? Well, Robertson has the inside track, because God supposedly told him the following:

“People will welcome socialism in order to relieve their pain. Nothing will stand in the way of a plan by Obama to restructure the economy in the same fashion as the New Deal in the ’30s.”

The spiritual lives of children has come under close scrutiny by two different sets of researchers who reached the same conclusion. Spirituality is a good thing for youngsters, a positive influence.It makes them happier - and healthier."Children who were more spiritual were happier," said a University of British Columbia study released Friday, which methodically quantified the typical ups and downs in a young life.The study, which questioned 320 children from four public schools and two religious schools about their spiritual practices, revealed that happiness was boosted by 26 percent among those children in touch with an "inner belief system."

The research said that "spirituality was a significant predictor of happiness, even after removing the variance associated with temperament."The study itself did not emphasize the importance of institutional religious practices but focused more on the child's sense of "personal meaning" - and their sense of such basic values as kindness toward others, altruism, meaningful relationships and volunteering.All are associated with a spiritual life - and "enhanced well-being," the study said."To make children happier, we may need to encourage them to develop a strong sense of personal worth," said psychologist Mark Holder, who led the research.The study was published in the Journal of Happiness Studies, an academic journal.Ailing children can also benefit from spirituality.

A study released Friday by the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center found that children and teens suffering from such chronic and challenging illnesses as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) benefit from an active spiritual life."Higher levels of spiritual well-being were associated with fewer depressive symptoms and better emotional well-being," said Dr. Michael Yi, a pediatrician who conducted the study of 155 youngsters, all who were struggling with the condition.

Obama emphatically promised more than a year ago that "The first thing I'd do as president is sign the Freedom of Choice Act. That's the first thing that I'd do." Will Obama keep his word?

The Freedom of Choice Act, or FOCA, is a sweeping bill that would abolish all pro-life regulations across the nation, from parental notification laws to bans on federal funding of abortion. The Office of the General Counsel for the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops has identified 13 categories of pro-life laws that would be stampeded and nullified by FOCA. As far reaching as the decision of Roe v. Wade is into the states' jurisdictions and our lives, even it, for example, showed certain respects for state laws and limits on infringing regulations in the medical fields. FOCA shows no such restraints, but nails shut the coffin on pro-life choices and safeguards.

And why has Obama pledged his allegiance to pass FOCA? Not only because he has the most passionately liberal pro-choice record of nearly any politician, but, as he told a meeting of Planned Parenthood during his campaign, "it is time to turn the page" to a new day when pro-life views, laws and debate on abortion are passé. And if he and the Democratic majority have their way, America will have that new day, one in which hundreds of thousands of more abortions will be performed annually. I still think it is utterly hypocritical that a president and a political party that pride themselves on providing and protecting minorities don't include the unborn among them.

The fight to pass FOCA is being waged despite a new nationwide survey revealing that four out of five U.S. adults (82 percent) would limit abortion's legality. One out of three (38 percent) would limit abortion to rape, incest or to save the mother's life. One out of three (33 percent) would also limit abortion to either the first three or first six months. Only nine percent said abortion should be legal for any reason at any time during pregnancy. These statistics are in stark contrast to the goals and objectives of FOCA, which would close the culture debate on abortion in an unprecedented way for any piece of legislation.

As far as the timing of FOCA's enactment, I have sufficient reason to believe Pelosi and Reed (and maybe Obama himself) have already made plans to swiftly and almost covertly introduce and pass FOCA through Congress sooner than most expect. And they will use any carrot to try divert opposition attention, even personal economic stimulus treats. Trust me when I say they are looking for the precise moment when there will be the least amount of public attention, political whiplash and opposition.

With so much focus and frenzy surrounding the inaugural fanfare of our new president, they might even try to strike the congressional coals while the fireworks are still hot. Some reports posit that FOCA could be swiftly reintroduced on the very anniversary of the Supreme Court's decision on Roe v. Wade decision, Jan. 22, so be on the alert. But, because of the tricky political nature of publicly presenting and passing such a pervasive and controversial bill like FOCA, I believe the Obama machine must do all it can also to assist and distract conservatives and evangelicals.

She complained that we didn’t have enough “Arabic translators” in Afghanistan — not realizing the natives don’t speak Arabic in Afghanistan, but rather a variety of regional dialects, the most common of which is Pashtun.

Speaking to military veterans one time, Palin said, “Our nation honors its unbroken line of fallen heroes — and I see many of them in the audience here today.”

She bragged about passing a law regulating the nuclear industry that it turned out never became a law at all.

Some days Palin said Venezuela’s dictator Hugo Chavez should suffer “regional isolation” — but then on others she’d say she supported the president’s meeting with Chavez.

She told one audience about recent tornados in Kansas that had killed 10,000 people. In fact, a dozen people were killed in the tornados.

She referred to the “57 states” that make up the U.S.

Speaking of her eldest daughter’s pregnancy, she said Bristol was being “punished” with a baby.

As you probably know -- or guessed by now -- none of these gaffes were uttered by Palin. They are all Obama gaffes. Luckily, he made them to a star-struck press that managed not to ask him a difficult question for two years.

The report, titled “Advancing Reproductive Rights and Health in a New Administration,” also calls for a 133-percent increase in funding for the Title X program, which funds Planned Parenthood clinics across the country.

The incident happened at a Planned Parenthood clinic in the nation's capitol. Information on the incident comes from American Life League's Katy Walker.

"Counselors in Washington, DC, encountered a 13-year-old girl going into a Planned Parenthood in the downtown DC area [who] was accompanied by her mother and her aunt," Walker explains. According to the pro-life activist, following the abortion the aunt shared some information with sidewalk counselors outside the clinic. "[S]he informs them that this little girl has been raped by the mother's boyfriend, and the mother wants to keep the boyfriend," says Walker.
Police were called, but the frightened girl would not provide information.

Walker contends similar cases are commonplace. "[T]his kind of stuff happens every day in Planned Parenthoods across the country -- every day," she argues. "They're covering for statutory rapists."

All states have laws requiring reporting of child abuse to authorities, and abortion facilities for the most part are not complying. That was the conclusion of an extensive investigation several years ago by Life Dynamics, Inc., a Texas-based pro-life group.

Obama's New School Chief Supported Creating Gay High School in Chicago

You have to ask yourself, wouldn't a "Gay High School" be a step backwards for us? It took us years to get our Disabled students back in the main stream and they are doing quite well in the Public School System in their specialized classes. So now Obama's new Secretary of Education is noted for his supported of a "Gay High School" and is looking forward to some more "change". I hope that I am not the only one that finds this just a little scary.

Score one for Pro-Life - Catholic University of San Francisco Drops Abortion Coverage From Health Plan

San Francisco, CA (LifeNews.com) -- After strong protest from pro-life Catholics, the University of San Francisco (USF) has dropped abortion coverage from a new student health care plan. A top USF official says the Jesuit college supports the pro-life teachings of the Catholic Church and made a mistake in including abortion in the package.

Gary McDonald, the director of Communications and Public Affairs, released a statement on Friday that LifeNews.com obtained.

"A new health plan for students at the University of San Francisco included a provision for the voluntary termination of pregnancy," he said. "It was not the University's intention to offer this coverage."

"We regret this mistake, and we take full responsibility for not adequately reviewing the contract. We are grateful to those who brought this issue to our attention," he added.

McDonald also promised that, "USF supports the Catholic Church's views on the sanctity of life, at all stages, and we will remove this provision from our student health plan."

The decision to include abortion caused a controversy not only because of the school's Catholic affiliation but because full-time undergraduate students at USF are automatically enrolled in the university's plan unless they request a waiver and prove that they have other, comparable insurance.

Obama picks another Pro-Abortionist to his Administration

Barack Obama has named yet another abortion advocate to a key administration post that will oversee policy related to pro-life issues. Obama has chosen pro-abortion former Clinton administration official Jeanne Lambrew to become the deputy director of the White House Office of Health Reform.

Lambrew is a University of Texas professor and, from 1997 to 2001, she worked on health policy at the White House under pro-abortion President Bill Clinton.

She was the associate director for health at the Office of Management and Budget and the senior health analyst at the National Economic Council.

There she very likely worked with Clinton administration officials on the 11th-hour proposal to allow the sale and use of the dangerous RU 486 abortion drug that has killed more than a dozen women worldwide and injured thousands in the United States.

She also worked at the Department of Health and Human Services during the 1993-1994 health reform efforts that were abandoned in part because they promoted abortion coverage at taxpayer expense.

Pro-life advocates know Obama has chosen another abortion activist for a key position when Planned Parenthood issues a press release saying it is "excited" about the pick.

The groups that have spent millions supporting pro-abortion members of Congress aren't in the mood to wait.

(Inside Catholic) - Go to Change.gov, the Web site of President-elect Barack Obama, and you'll find a document titled "Advancing Reproductive Rights and Health in a New Administration." Signed by dozens of pro-abortion groups, including Catholics for Choice, this 55-page document provides an overview of the marching orders for the Obama administration in removing all present restrictions on abortions while dramatically increasing abortion funding.

Anyone who has bought into the myth that Obama is "moderating" his positions should notice that the first section is titled "Steps for the First Hundred Days." The groups that have spent millions supporting pro-abortion members of Congress, including Obama and Vice-President elect Joe Biden, aren't in the mood to wait.

Many of the recommendations are about who gets government support. The pro-abortion groups not only want more money -- nearly $3 billion -- but they also want the government to stop funding groups who do not share their ideology.

For example, notice the following four recommendations out of the many contained in the document:

• Provide $1 Billion for International Family Planning Programs

• Restore Funding to the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)

• Increase Funding for Title X Family Planning Program to $700 million

Those who perpetuate the "Pro Choice" argument and honestly believe it cannot in their heart of hearts consider a Fetus a human being. I say this because what kind of monster believes that murder is okay.

The "Pro Choice" supporters don't believe that a Fetus is a Human Being because it cannot live on its own outside of the Mother's body. But I have to ask this....If a Fetus is totally dependent on the mother, and therefore has no right at all. In other words it does not count! But if a pregnant mother is a victim of any violence or crime, which results in the death of both the mother and the fetus, the courts count the "value" of the fetus, and if the perpetrator is found guilty, he/she could be sentenced to, and meted out, "double" the punishment because of the two dead victims. So, why should the treatment and regard for the value of the fetus be different in the case of abortion?

In Beaglescouts article he states that Geneticists will tell that they believe life begins when "...the ovum is fertilized by the sperm. At that point the fertilized egg has the same genetic structure it will have for its entire life, and much of the course of its future life is set, unless interrupted by accident or violent attack."

I do realize the situation is not that simple and straightforward. But guided by our Christian sensibilities and sensitivities, by our education, and by our culture where the family is the basic structure of our foundation in society,
I am puzzled why there is even a debate on the matter at all.

Until it gets to the First Amendment, the Constitution has nothing to say on the matter of Human Rights. This doesn’t mean they didn’t exist until then. Americans had Rights before the Bill of Rights passed. Our Rights descended from English common, statute, and chancery law, and before that from the ancient traditions of free Christian Englishmen (the 1689 Bill of Rights not least among these enumerations of rights). But those are peripheral sources of Rights for Americans. Most central to the American concept of Rights is The Declaration of Independence.The Declaration of Independence, in which our Rights as Americans and humans were so eloquently advanced, stated that all humans are created equal and endowed by their Creator with unalienable (intrinsic, non-severable) Rights. It does not state that humans are born equal, but created so. For this reason it matters when human life is created. For the answer we turn to science.

The right to life is the most basic, foundational right without which other rights mean nothing. So how is it that one person’s so-called rights can allow her to take away the foundational rights of another? The answer is they can’t. There are no such rights. This would be license. But license is not endowed upon humans by their Creator. It is claimed by those who wish to oppress others while claiming victim hood for themselves. By misusing the language of rights the proponents of a so-called right to abortion have invented a license to kill for the mother while denying the child any rights at all. This is hardly an example of human beings created equal. It is a much better example of human beings created different and at war.

Sarah Palin tops Google’s 2008 search charts

Hard to believe that this tumultous year is about to digress and progress int what will surely be another year of firsts. 2008 was surely full of unforseen events, memorable moments and emerging trends that captivated us all. The year was full of record breaking search queries in the billions and the people that typed into the Google search box gives us a glimpse into the zeitgeist — the spirit of the times. A list has been compiled with some of the highlights of Google searches from around the world, the internet and its technology will never cease to amaze me.

Ironically, Even Brittany Spears did not appear on the Google "fastest-rising" list which compares popularity of online searches in 2008 with their frequency the previous year.

London: She might not have won the election, but Sarah Palin – the defeated US vice-presidential candidate – has topped Google's 2008 chart of the most web searches.

While the Alaskan Governor topped the Google’s image search list, Beijing Olympics 2008 came in at number 2 in the Google list of “fastest rising searches” followed by "Facebook login" and "Tuenti," a Spanish social networking website.

Late Hollywood actor Heath Ledger came in at number 4 and US President-elect Barack Obama, who created history with his win, rounded of the top 5, reports The Telegraph.

Searches for "Nasza Klasa," a Polish social networking website, and "Wer Kennt Wen," a German one, were next followed by "Euro 2008" and the "Jonas Brothers."

In addition to providing a global view of what people were looking for on the Internet this year, Google also released search data for more than 30 countries.

Bank Managers of the 1800's would not recognize today's Banking-Finance ethics let alone the bailouts. "Bankers' Hours" would not come until over a hundred years later. Huddleston & Bradford was a bank that transferred large sums of money -- in safes on trains in London.

Edgar Trent was the bank owner and published "Rules for Office Staff" in 1854.

1. Godliness, cleanliness and punctuality are the necessities of a good business.

2. The firm has reduced the working day to the hours from 8:30 to 7p.m.

3. Daily prayers will be held each morning in the main office.
The clerical staff will be present.

4. Clothing will be of a sober nature.

5. A stove is provided for the benefit of the clerical staff. It is recommended that each member of the clerical staff bring 4 lbs. of coal each day during cold weather.

6. No member of the clerical staff may leave the room with out the permission from Mr. Roberts. The calls of nature are permitted and clerical staff may use the garden beyond the second gate. This area must be kept clean and in good order.

7. No talking is allowed during business hours.

8. The craving of tobacco, wine or spirits is a human
weakness, and as such is forbidden to the clerical staff.

9. Members of the clerical staff will provide their own pens.

10. The managers of the firm will expect a great rise in the output of work to compensate for these near Utopian conditions.

There is no mention of tattoos or body piercings.

The "near Utopian conditions" are actually enjoyed today. All staff these days are warm, well-fed, granted tobacco consuming smoke breaks and counter-consuming healthcare. +`Even without unions.

We are so lucky today.

Obama's Hell on Earth

IF President-elect Barack Obama goes through with his campaign pledge to sign into law the Freedom of Choice Act, "holy hell" is going to break loose. FOCA may be the most radical social legislation in decades. It seeks to strip every last restraint from abortion - outlawing states' requirements for waiting periods, informed consent or parental consent; preventing health and safety regulation of abortion clinics and abortionists - and even ending restrictions on partial-birth abortion.

With one stroke of the president's pen, it would nullify every one of the 330 or so federal, state and local abortion laws on the books, most of them supported by a majority of Americans. And that's just the start. The law would also compel taxpayers to fund abortions and provide abortions in military hospitals. Most provocatively of all, it would force religious hospital and health-care institutions to perform abortions in violation of their convictions.

The incoming president is all for this draconian bill. In the Senate, no one held more extreme views on abortion. Abortion-rights groups have given him a 100 percent rating for every year he has held public office.

When he began his White House run, back on July 7, 2007, he told a cheering Planned Parenthood conference, "The first thing I'd do as president is sign the Freedom of Choice Act. That's the first thing I'd do . . . On this issue I will not yield."

The Catholic Church, for one, won't stand for it. The ranking American prelate to the Holy See, James Cardinal Stafford, denounced Obama's vision as "aggressive, disruptive and apocalyptic."

Thank God, it couldn't happen here. Could it? Look around.
Watch your evening news. Read your newspaper.

Are you unaware of the raging demonstrations in our streets, in front of our churches and synagogues, even spilling into these places of worship, and many of these riots turning defamatory and violent? Have you not seen the angry distorted faces of the rioters, seen their derogatory and threatening placards and signs, heard their vows to overturn the democratically expressed views of voters, no matter what it costs, no matter what was expressed at the polls? Twice?

I refer to California's Proposition 8. You haven't heard about the well-oiled campaign to find out the names of every voter and business that contributed as much as $1,000, or even much less, in support of Prop 8? You haven't heard about the announced plans to boycott, demonstrate, intimidate and threaten each one – because they dared to vote to retain marriage as between one man and one woman? You haven't seen, on the evening news, prominent entertainers and even California Gov. Schwarzenegger, urging the demonstrators on, telling them they should "never give up" until they get their way?

I really enjoy Sean Hannity, but I don't like myself when I am watching him. You see, a side of me that I don't like at all worms its way out when Alan Colmes opens his mouth, actually, it comes out when I see his face.

Yes, my Blood pressure rises, I squint my forehead, I do that squinty eye, snort through the nose thing and then I take a deep breath and remind myself he's just another "wind up toy" aka "sock puppet". Sock meaning everyone that watches the show wants to "sock" him.

Recently he took himself to a new level of lower than ever before. I'm talking about lower than the sludge that sits in the bottom of the sewer low. Kaslin at FreeRepublic.com really put it best;

Alan Colmes has changed a lot since the election of Barack Obama. To be specific, he’s gotten a lot dumber – so much so that I’m thinking about boycotting the “Hannity and the Other Guy” show that features him at 9 p.m. EST on Fox.

Does anyone know if Keith Olberman has a show in that time slot?

Colmes, whom I’ve always admired and respected (really), gave a disappointing interview to a couple of young women who work for an organization I admire called Students for Life America, or SFLA. By calling them a “radical anti-choice organization,” Colmes was arrogant and disrespectful to the young ladies, one of whom is only a teenager.

Colmes, like other so-called liberals, doesn’t understand that the pro-life position is not “anti-choice.” By opposing one choice (the choice to abort) pro-lifers are supporting the over one-million choices the fetus is likely to make if it can escape the scalpel and suction tube – a symbol as sacred to the feminist as the hammer and sickle is to the communist.

Margaret Sanger, Barack Obama& Planned Parenthood

Everytime I read about how Barack Obama supported legislation to let babies born alive die, I do the typical response, I say to myself "theirs no way", than I remember that I did the research and yes it did happen, then I cry and wonder how anyone could do that, let alone a parent, and then I get mad, how dare he take a tiny miracle in his own hands and take away its right to live after the person that gave it life wished it dead, but the baby fought and lived.

We all know the story of Jill Stanek and how she rocked the dying aborted baby in her arms as it died after they had refused to give it life saving measures. Do we really believe that with the hundreds of thousands of Abortions performed every year, that that was the only time these murders of an innocent child ever happened? If we do than we need to open our eyes. Believing that such an instance was one of a kind is like believing that a serial killer only killed once. The abortionist that continue to let this happen are legal "serial killers"

It's Time to Speak Out Against The 'Mormon Boycott'

The use of boycotts in support of gay marriage, including by some law professors, preceded the passage of Prop. 8. These boycotts, which aim at suppressing political speech, are distinct from the boycotts of the black civil rights movement in the 1950s and 1960s. The civil rights boycotts sought not to suppress speech, but to provide access to goods and services by targeting those people withholding the goods and services.

Regardless of whether one supports the use of boycotts in the Prop. 8 context, the targeting of Mormons is gross hypocrisy considering that other groups, such as Blacks and Latinos, likely were the decisive electoral factor. A persuasive argument can be made that Mormons have been singled out because they are a relatively small group with
political power mostly in one state. The irony of singling out a religious group which has itself been the victim of discrimination appears lost on anti-Prop. 8 boycott groups.

While the web is filled with hate speech by fringe elements directed at many groups, the anti-Mormon efforts are openly embraced and promoted by a wide range of anti-Prop. 8 groups. Anti-Mormon hate speech no longer is on the fringe, it is at the heart of the post-election anti-Prop. 8 campaign. The examples are too numerous to list completely. This sampling reflects the breadth and increasing scope of post-election anti-Mormon activities:

The creation of a boycott list of Mormon-owned hotels. The creator of the list states as follows: "I personally won't do business with any Marriott hotels, as they are owned by Mormons. I'm done with this shit. They just use the money against us."
Additional calls for a boycott of all Mormons: "While much ado is being made about the overwhelming support of prop 8 by black voters in California, there is little ado being made about getting even with the Mormons...."
A boycott of the entire state of Utah because of the high percentage of Mormons, and other efforts targeting Mormons as "hate's banker, and we need to make sure that their moral bankruptcy becomes a fiscal one as
well."
Protests at Mormon churches around the country, including New York City, Salt Lake City, and Los Angeles.
Postings on Daily Kos and elsewhere calling for boycott of Mormon owned businesses: "Businesses owned by Mormons, who tithe to the Church, should also be boycotted. Large amounts of Church income comes from tithings. Vote with your wallets! Every dollar less that you give to a tithed Mormon is a dollar less that can be tithed and spent on anti-gay activity."
Postings on YouTube of blatantly anti-Mormon videos calling on people to "Boycott the Utah Hate State and the Mormons."
The creation of high profile websites devoted to portraying Mormons as having betrayed the U.S. by taking control of the Boy Scouts and other devices: "The Mormon people have been able to flourish because of this country's generous spirit. But now, history has reversed, and it is the Mormons who have become the oppressor."
The production of an anti-Mormon musical by the creators of South Park, which is expected to start rehearsals soon.
Calls not to tip Mormon waiters: "Now do not tip, hire, or do any business with a Mormon. 10% of their income goes to the church that worked tirelessly to take the civil rights away from people. They are a Nazi organization who only what their point of view followed. I asked my waiter if he were a Mormon, when he said he was I did not tip him, telling him, I was sorry but I can not support bigotry."
Suggestions that Mormon businesses that do not wish to be harassed should post signs in their windows against Prop. 8: "Any business, Mormon or otherwise, can take the simple step of posting a sign on the premises urging the repeal of Prop 8, or make a public statement against it."
Calls to fire a Mormon employed by the American Jewish Congress because he supported Prop. 8.
The forced resignation of the Mormon director of the Los Angeles Film Festival for support of Prop. 8.
The investigation by the State of California of the Mormon Church's tax exempt status, even though religious organizations routinely support or oppose political causes without losing their exempt status.
A hotel in New Mexico luring visitors away from Utah by using a web address that incorporates the words
"mormon-boycott-utah."
A call to boycott businesses, including Macy's and Nordstrom, which plan to open stores at a shopping mall owned by the Mormon church: "The Mormon Church came after our rights, and if we don't stop them, they will be back again and again."
A call to boycott businesses which have Mormons in senior positions: "Universely [sic], we need to avoid putting any more money into the Church's coffers by boycotting all companies where a Mormon church member holds an officer's position or a large majority interest."
Efforts to create and distribute lists of businesses "either owned by the Church, owned by Mormons, having a Mormon in a high executive position, or generally benefiting Mormons," including on
Facebook and elsewhere.
The boycott of Mormon business has been likened to a war: "There is a war cry being sounded in gay communities all across America - Boycott Mormon owned businesses. This is a war cry that should be
heeded."

The singling out of Mormons, and the hateful nature of the boycott, is not coincidental. Prop. 8 is being used as an excuse to vent pent-up anger at the Mormon Church, and the traditional lifestyle of Mormons. With each passing day, it seems that the web is filled with more and more hate speech directed at Mormons. As others have noted,
the attacks on Mormons would not be tolerated if directed at other religious or ethnic groups.

A Different Christmas Poem

The embers glowed softly, and in their dim light,
I gazed round the room and I cherished the sight.
My wife was asleep, her head on my chest,
My daughter beside me, angelic in rest.
Outside the snow fell, a blanket of white,
Transforming the yard to a winter delight.
The sparkling lights in the tree I believe,
Completed the magic that was Christmas Eve.
My eyelids were heavy, my breathing was deep,
Secure and surrounded by love I would sleep.
In perfect contentment, or so it would seem,
So I slumbered, perhaps I started to dream.

The sound wasn’t loud, and it wasn’t too near,
But I opened my eyes when it tickled my ear.
Perhaps just a cough, I didn’t quite know,
Then the sure sound of footsteps outside in the snow.
My soul gave a tremble, I struggled to hear,
And I crept to the door just to see who was near.
Standing out in the cold and the dark of the night,
A lone figure stood, his face weary and tight.
A soldier, I puzzled, some twenty years old,
Perhaps a Marine, huddled here in the cold.
Alone in the dark, he looked up and smiled,
Standing watch over me, and my wife and my child.

“What are you doing?” I asked without fear,
”Come in this moment, it’s freezing out here!
Put down your pack, brush the snow from your sleeve,
You should be at home on a cold Christmas Eve!”
For barely a moment I saw his eyes shift,
Away from the cold and the snow blown in drifts..
To the window that danced with a warm fire’s light,
Then he sighed and he said “Its really all right,
I’m out here by choice. I’m here every night.”
“It’s my duty to stand at the front of the line,
That separates you from the darkest of times.
No one had to ask or beg or implore me,
I’m proud to stand here like my fathers before me.

My Gramps died at ‘ Pearl on a day in December,” Then he sighed,
“That’s a Christmas ‘Gram always remembers.”
My dad stood his watch in the jungles of ‘ Nam ‘,
And now it is my turn and so, here I am.
I’ve not seen my own son in more than a while,
But my wife sends me pictures, he’s sure got her smile.
Then he bent and he carefully pulled from his bag,
The red, white, and blue… an American flag.

I can live through the cold and the being alone,
Away from my family, my house and my home.
I can stand at my post through the rain and the sleet,
I can sleep in a foxhole with little to eat.
I can carry the weight of killing another,
Or lay down my life with my sister and brother..
Who stand at the front against any and all,
To ensure for all time that this flag will not fall.”
“So go back inside,” he said, “harbor no fright,
Your family is waiting and I’ll be all right.”
“But isn’t there something I can do, at the least,
”Give you money,” I asked, “or prepare you a feast?
It seems all too little for all that you’ve done,
For being away from your wife and your son.”

Then his eye welled a tear that held no regret,
”Just tell us you love us, and never forget.
To fight for our rights back at home while we’re gone,
To stand your own watch, no matter how long.
For when we come home, either standing or dead,
To know you remember we fought and we bled.
Is payment enough, and with that we will trust,
That we mattered to you as you mattered to us.”

Evangilizing Atheists

While Canada is caught up in its own “consititutional crisis”, the Americans seem to be having some trouble with lawn signs.

A group of atheists placed an “anti-god” sign near the nativity scene on the grounds of the Washington State legislative grounds, and now Christian groups are in an uproar.

I am a Bible believing Christian. I believe in God. I think it’s ridiculous to evangelize atheism. However, I don’t think the sign should be taken down. If we as Christians want our own religious views validated by the state in way of a nativity scene, then why can’t those with opposing views?

That’s what we call freedom of religion. Or, better yet, keep these things to our own yards.

Holiday Cheer not just for Holidays

Funny thing happened in the Dollar store this morning. Numerous people smiled and said "Have a Happy Holiday". Now I know your asking, "Why was that so odd or funny?, after all it is the Holiday Season." Yes you would be right, it is the "Holiday Season", but my question is, why does everyone wait untill the "Holiday Season" to wish others well?

I understand this custom, but having been raised to always say something "Nice", I truly "don't" understand it. Notice how I said that I was in the "Dollar Store", you see I proably spend a more proportionate amout of money there than just about anywhere else. It really is amazing what you can buy at the Dollar Store these days, some weeks I practically do my grocery shopping there.

But anyway back on point....anywho......Why do we have to wait till now, the "Holiday Season" to be "Nice" to people and "wish them well". Why don't we do it all year round. The reason I used the Dollar Store analogy was because I would venture to say that a large majority of us that shop at such stores do so out of neccessity. We don't have extra money laying around, and we are content to shop at the "Dollar Stores" in our community and very seldom do I ever come across a "rude" person in one of these stores, so I have to ask myself why is that?

I mean after all have you been to Walmart lately, how often do you run into happy, grateful, well wishers there? Honestly, I don't know if I ever have. Case and point was recently proven, sadly in a New York Walmart recently where an employee was mowed down and killed by Black Friday shoppers. The employee was trying to keep a pregnant woman from getting crushed by the Mob. This is the perfect example of of how comercialization has replaced "Holiday Cheer". Now undoubtably these shoppers that scooped up their HD TV fo $700 and $20 Video games sincerely believe they are doing their part in "Holdiay Cheer" with the giving of these gifts that now technically, are accessories to a crime, seriously, after all the shoppers took part in the rampage that resulted in the killing of one man and the maming of many more are the perpatrators. Bet they won't be sharing that little tidbit of "Joy" with the recipient of the gift they "had to have".

In my experience those that are labeled as "unfortunate" are usually the "fortunate" ones. We are fortunate enough to realize that the best things in life are free. It cost us nothing to say "thank you" or "God bless you".
It costs us nothing to hold a door open for a fellow shopper or let some one else have that parking space. It costs us nothing to hug someone having a bad day, or even just a smile and nod to someone that has greeted us as we walk in the store. Acknowledgment is a wonderful thing, we all like to be acknowledged, whether its a nod, a handshake, a smile or even a wink, acknowledgement makes us feels good it makes us feel important, its like saying "thank you" without ever opening your mouth. Sometimes the best present of all is just being present.

After this Holiday Season is done and gone and tree is on the curb and the garbage receptacles are full of tattered wrapping paper and handcrafted bows don't feel empty, feel blessed, because I promise you, you can always find someone worse off than yourself, I promise you that. So tommmorrow when the dawn awakes your soul take a minute before you rise and use all your senses.

Take a moment and take it all in. . . . Listen, what do you hear, maybe you hear a baby crying because your a Mother, or maybe a Dog whining to go outside, or maybe just some squirrel chatter or bird chirping, but they are all beautiful sounds. Now smell, what do you smell, coffee brewing, bacon cooking, puppy accidents (my house, LOL), whatever it is its all good. Now use your eyes what do you see, a soulmate, a friend-some furry-some not, a roof over your head, a beautiful child with messy hair and a toothless grin, whatever you see, its beautiful, isn't it? Now using your hands what do you feel, the covers that you want to pull over your head, the cheek of someone next to you, the paws of a furry friend, your warming hands on a hot cup of coffee or cocoa, it all feels so good, doesn't it?

Everyday we all have so much to be grateful for, but everyday we take it for granted and find something to complain about. The holiday season brings out the best in most people, but why wait till the the holiday season to bring out the best in yourself. The old cliche' "Today is the first day of the rest of your life" is a wonderful saying but I like the saying "Live each day like it was your last" so much better. We all have no idea how much time we have left on this earth, so take today to make a difference in someones life, take every single day to make a difference.

When the dawn awakes your soul and the day is still brand new
Do you look up to the heavens and say a soft "Thank You"
Each day is such a blessing A gift that's in disguise
He lets us follow in his footsteps from the moment that we rise

As your walking down the street and it's a sad face that you see
can you take the time to smile, that alone can fill a need
A need to feel we're loved as he so loved us so,

Is made to pass on to another these seeds of kindness that we sew

These seeds will bloom more along the way like the seeds from wildflowers
They spread more everyday, spread them every hour
Take the time each morning to thank the lord above

for giving us this chance to spread his everlasting love

Then reach inside your heart a little more each day
and give what you've been given to those along your way
Spreading random acts of kindness without prejudice or cause

Recently I received one of Joel Osteens daily words where he had written about how the Bible states that the prayer of the righteous person is powerful, but if we aren’t treating others with honor, kindness, and respect, then we aren’t allowing His righteousness to operate in us. When we don’t treat others the way we should, it closes the door to God’s power and hinders our prayers. All the more reason to not wait untill the holiday season to spread some "Joy and Cheer".

On a lighter note, if your shopping list is fatter than your wallet you can always do like Bernard Manning was quoted as saying; "I once bought my kids a set of batteries for Christmas with a note on it saying, toys not included."

The Big 3, and the 6 Myths. The Truth you won't get in your LSM

With the recent debacle on Capitol Hill about what to do about the American
Auto Industry, the Lame Stream Media has managed to hang the Detroit 3 out
to dry without the all the facts.

First of all let me say that I am the first to agree with anyone that says that
the American Auto Industry did "a little to little, a little to late", But that said,
after reading this article and doing some research, I seriously had to digress
and say, well now, isn't that interesting.

So, to sum it up, it looks like the Big Three is not quite as lame as the Lame
Stream Media would like us to believe. So lets do a summary here;

1) GM outsold Toyota by about 1.2 million vehicles in the United States last year and
holds a U.S. lead over Toyota of about 560,000 so far this year.

2) The independent J.D. Power Initial Quality Study scored Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet,
Ford, GMC, Mercury, Pontiac and Lincoln brands' overall quality as high as or higher
than that of top selling Japaneese and German Vehicles.

3) The Chevy Malibu gets better gas Mileage than its competitor the Honda Accord
The For Focus has the same competitive gas mileage as the Toyaota Corrolla
and the Chevy Cobalt has better Highway fuel econonly that the Honda Civic.

4) They have not already received 25 Billion as the media reports, this alloted money
cannot do anything, by law, accept be used to invest in future vehicles and technology,
It cannot help them with their current economic situation

5) The Big 3 are not alone, Toyota, Nissan, Mercedes-Benz and BMW have all spent
billions of dollars on pickups and SUVs, this is still a viable part of the business for
Fleet Operated Busineeses.

6) Although the Big 3 got into the hybrid business late, Ford and GM now offer more hybrid
models than Honda or Nissan.

So, now looking at things with a little more clarity, I have to admit, I am still unclear as to
what needs to be done, but one thing I do know is that Albert Einstein definition of "Insanity"
still rings very true "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting
different results", and that goes for Congress and The Big 3!!

Teen learns hate and bias the hard way

Eleanor Holmes Norton once wrote; "The only way to make sure people
you agree with can speak is to support the rights of people you don't
agree with", and young very brave Teen became the epitamy of this
quote most recently.

Brave Catherine Vogt did an experiment prior to the recent election, for the
purpose of fulfilling a classroom assignment Ms. Vogt decided to wear a
homemade "Mcain Girl" shirt to school one day and a homemade "Obam Girl"
shirt another day. Bet you can guess how this story turned out, huh?

Only a few times did anyone say anything remotely positive about her McCain
shirt. One girl pulled her aside in a corner, out of earshot of other students,
and whispered, "I really like your shirt.".That's when you know America is
truly supportive of diversity of opinion, when children must whisper for fear
of being ostracized, heckled and crucifixed. The next day, in part 2 of The
Brave Catherine Vogt Experiment, she wore another T-shirt, this one with
"Obama Girl" written in blue. And an amazing thing happened. Catherine
wasn't very stupid anymore. She grew brains. "People liked my shirt.
They said things like my brain had come back, and I had put the right
shirt on today," Catherine said.

Catherine has a Conservative and a liberal for parents and seems to be a
very well rounded child because of it. I for one would be very proud of my
child and her efforts to show the nature of people and their partisanship and
how it effects ones surrondings and emotional well being.

WASHINGTON -- Activists will "sidewalk chalk" pro-life messages and pictures for President Obama on the two blocks of Pennsylvania Ave. in front of the White House on January 24, 2009.

This "prophetic art display" is part of a major pro-life witness taking place in Washington, D.C. during Inaugural Week called "The Birmingham Letter Project."

The American Center for Law and Justice, who is representing the activists, sent a letter to Terrance Ryan, General Counsel to the Metropolitan Police of the District of Columbia outlining their plans on Monday, November 24.

The leaders of "The Birmingham Letter Project" are inviting pro-life and human rights activists to come to Washington, D.C. during the week of the Inauguration and be involved in a prayerful and prophetic witness for life as they call upon President Obama to end the violence and brutality of abortion.

Rev. Patrick J. Mahoney, Director of the Christian Defense Coalition, states, "From a Birmingham jail cell 45 years, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. challenged the Christian community to step out of their apathy, comfort and indifference and boldly confront the evil of segregation.

The Pilgrims got an Economics lesson for Thanksgiving, hopefully we'll learn from them

We all have this amazing story of survival in seered into our mind. the same story that was taught to us in the public school system,, every year, year in year out. But there is alot more too it, and alot more that I serisously doubt any of of kids will ever be taught in the public school system.

Today I am grateful for my ancestors for their trials and tribulations and the opportunity to thrive and succeed in the greatest country in the world.

Most people identify the origin of the holiday with the Pilgrims' first bountiful harvest.

But few understand how the Pilgrims actually solved their chronic food shortages.

Many people believe that after suffering through a severe winter, the Pilgrims' food shortages were resolved the following spring when the Native Americans taught them to plant corn and a Thanksgiving celebration resulted.

In fact, the Pilgrims continued to face chronic food shortages for three years until the harvest of 1623. Bad weather or lack of farming knowledge did not cause the Pilgrims' shortages. Bad economic incentives did.

In 1620 Plymouth Plantation was founded with a system of communal property rights. Food and supplies were held in common and then distributed based on "equality" and "need" as determined by Plantation officials.

People received the same rations whether or not they contributed to producing the food, and residents were forbidden from producing their own food.

Gov. William Bradford, in his 1647 history, Of Plymouth Plantation, wrote that this system "was found to breed much confusion and discontent and retard much employment that would have been to their benefit and comfort."

The problem was that "young men, that were most able and fit for labour, did repine that they should spend their time and strength to work for other men's wives and children without any recompense." Because of the poor incentives, little food was produced.

Faced with potential starvation in the spring of 1623, the colony decided to implement a new economic system. Every family was assigned a private parcel of land.

They could then keep all they grew for themselves, but now they alone were responsible for feeding themselves. While not a complete private property system, the move away from communal ownership had dramatic results.

This change, Bradford wrote, "had very good success, for it made all hands very industrious, so as much more corn was planted than otherwise would have been."

Giving people economic incentives changed their behavior. Once the new system of property rights was in place, "the women now went willingly into the field, and took their little ones with them to set corn; which before would allege weakness and inability."

Once the Pilgrims in the Plymouth Plantation abandoned their communal economic system and adopted one with greater individual property rights, they never again faced the starvation and food shortages of the first three years. It was only after allowing greater property rights that they could feast without worrying that famine was just around the corner.

We are direct beneficiaries of the economics lesson the Pilgrims learned in 1623. Today we have a much better developed and well-defined set of property rights. Our economic system offers incentives for us-- in the form of prices and profits -- to coordinate our individual behavior for the mutual benefit of all; even those we may not personally know.

It is customary in many families to "give thanks to the hands that prepared this feast" during the Thanksgiving dinner blessing.

Perhaps we should also be thankful for the millions of other hands that helped get the dinner to the table: the grocer who sold us the turkey, the truck driver who delivered it to the store, and the farmer who raised it all contributed to our Thanksgiving dinner because our economic system rewards them. That's the real lesson of Thanksgiving. The economic incentives provided by private competitive markets where people are left free to make their own choices make bountiful feasts possible.

My personal note:
I find it ironic that our ancestors experience the whole "Wealth Redistribution" thing almost 400 years ago, it didn't work then and it won't work now. If our President Elect continues with his whole "Wealth Redistribution" process we are going to take a step back 400 years.

Not while the Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee is engaged in shenanigans like the ones described here:

Harlem Rep. Charles Rangel took a "homestead" tax break on a Washington, DC, house for years while simultaneously occupying multiple rent-stabilized apartments in New York City, possibly violating laws and regulations in both cases.

The situation raises a number of potential problems for the congressman, including:

-New York City law requires that tenants use rent-stabilized apartments as their primary residence.

-DC's real Property Homestead Deduction Act also requires that a property receiving the benefit be a primary residence.

-Tax lawyers told The Post that a property owner cannot have two primary residences - or take advantages provided to primary residences at two different addresses simultaneously.

-DC's law also requires that the owner of a property benefiting from the tax break be a personal-income taxpayer in DC. District law exempts members of Congress from paying personal DC income tax, but they must pay property tax.

Is Nancy Pelosi going to do anything about this? And if not, can we call her a failed Speaker yet?

Gay groups help with Fundraiser in hopes of Philibuster Proof Congress

Time is short and we are on the verge of a Philibuster proof Senate, it is crucial that we do not let the Democrats have sixty seats and let them run the place. The potential damage the Democrats could do is beyond the pale and some groups, besides unions, are desperately seeking sixty Democrat senators.

In Georgia, the Stonewall Democrats are throwing a fundraiser for Jim Martin. The Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual/Transgendered groups are promoting fundraising and agitating for a filibuster proof Democrat controlled Senate.

Why are these groups so actively involved in getting Jim Martin elected? You have to understand that the gay marriage movement took two steps forward earlier this year with the infamous Supreme Court Decision and then three steps back on election day, when America spoke to preserve the sanctity of marriage.

The gay rights movement knows it has to get rid of Saxby Chambliss to undermine democratic efforts in the several states to reaffirm marriage as between a man and a woman. Once they put Jim Martin in office than they can stack the federal judiciary with far left judges and at that point they can use their Democrat controlled Senate to undermine the Defense of Marriage Act.

This will happen, there is no doubt!!!

It is another reason we need to rally for Saxby Chambliss.

Thousands of people are jumping aboard apetition that demands documentation of President-elect Barack Obama's eligibility to hold the highest office in the U.S., not just assurances from party officials.

Already more than 55,000 petitioners have joined the effort coordinated by WND founder and editor Joseph Farah.

A report accompany Farah's petition explains the many questions raised about Obama's eligibility, from an apparently fabricated "Certification of Live Birth" posted online toquestions about what nation's passport he used during to travel to Pakistan.The signature total was over 45,000 by late Saturday evening. As WND reported, one case is scheduled for a conference among U.S. Supreme Court justices Dec. 5.

Conferences are private meetings of the justices at which they review cases and decide which ones to accept for formal review. The Supreme Court's website listed the date for the case brought by Leo C. Donofrio against Nina
ells, the Secretary of State in New Jersey, over not only Obama's name on the 2008 election ballot but those of two others, Sen. John McCain and Roger Calero.

The case, unsuccessful at the state level, was submitted to Justice David Souter, who rejected it.The case then was resubmitted to Justice Clarence Thomas. The next line on the court's docket says:"DISTRIBUTED for Conference of December 5, 2008." If four of the nine justices vote to hear the case in full, oral argument may be scheduled.

According to America's Right blogger Jeff Schreiber, there also was a development in a second case presented to the Supreme Court on the same issue. His report said the Federal Election Commission now has waived its right to respond to a complaint brought by attorney Philip Berg. Last week, WND reported worries over a "constitutional crisis" that could loom over the issue of Obama'c citizenship.

Former presidential candidate Alan Keyes and others filed a court petition in California asking the secretary of state to refuse to allow the state's 55 Electoral College votes to be cast in the 2008 presidential election until Obama verifies his eligibility to hold the office.

The disputes all cite "natural-born citizen" requirement set by the U.S. Constitution. WND senior reporter Jerome Corsi even traveled to Kenya and Hawaii prior to the election to investigate issues surrounding Obama's birth. But his research and discoveries only raised more questions.

The biggest question is why Obama, if a Hawaii birth certificate exists as his campaign has stated, simply hasn't ordered it made available to settle the rumors.

Obama's half-sister, Maya Soetoro, has named two different Hawaii hospitals where Obama could may have been born. There have been other allegations that Obama actually was born in Kenya during a time when his father was a British subject.

The California action was filed by Gary Kreep of the United States Justice Foundation on behalf of Keyes, the presidential candidate of the American Independent Party, along with Wiley S. Drake and Markham Robinson, both California electors.

"Should Senator Obama be discovered, after he takes office, to be ineligible for the Office of President of the
United States of America and, thereby, his election declared void, Petitioners, as well as other Americans, will suffer irreparable harm in that (a) usurper will be sitting as the President of the United States, and none of the treaties, laws, or executive orders signed by him will be valid or legal," the action challenges.

An Obama spokesman interviewed by WND described such lawsuits as "garbage."

But on WND's new forum page, the level of frustration was rising. Dozens contributed their thoughts immediately after the forum was posted:

"What makes Obama non-respon[sive] to the simplest of requests?" asked one reader. "Does he think that it is politically incorrect to ask for authentication of the myriad of facts about himself … Is he testing the grounds to see how far he can play with this charade?"

Other comments included:

--"Obama won his first election ever by getting three Democratic opponents thrown off the ballot? He's all for using the law to help himself win. Wouldn't it be ironic if he is not allowed to serve as president due to the law? …
Turn around is fair play!

--"Even the left-wing liberal news media is beginning to ask the question: 'Who is this man we have elected?
We really do not know much about him.'"

--"Obama's refusal to produce the ORIGINAL given birth certificate gives us all pause. His silence on these allegations is deafening. The anointed one believes that if he can hold us all back until he's in the Oval Office he's hit a home run and he's 'safe.' Ah, not so! Check your law, Obama, and you will see that even if were to make it to the White House you will no longer be able to hide behind those red velvet ropes."

--"There must be something that would have caused him great harm prior to the election, and would have stopped him from becoming elected. What could that little piece of information be?"

On Janet Porter's Faith2Action radio program today, computer specialist Ron Polarik left no doubt the image posted as Obama's "Certification of Live Birth" from the state of Hawaii was not genuine.

"Here's a smoking gun," he said. "Apparently Hawaii changes its borders [on documentation] every year.

In 2007 it had a certain border, and it's got a 2007 border. However if you dig a little deeper you find it has a 2008 signature and seal," he said."Whomever did the forgery was not very clever," he said.
